I also served on attack boats and they were even more depressing, you had to share your bed with someone - so when they were on watch you were asleep and vice a versa) and a unhealthy dis-regard for nuclear radiation!I held my dosimeter (personal radiation detector)next to a hot spot (weak part in the radiation shielding) for hours, when the indicators get sent off they display the amount of radiation you are exposed to, my one never came back or I was told my dosage was any higher than normal!

No that's the Royal Navy's number one top tip " if all eles fails turn the O N O F F (say the letters indivdually) switch off. Most of the computer systems onboard ships/submarines are 15+ years old (due to the high level of testing that goes on) systems freeze up due to heat or mis use / age, its as simple as that, my home computer often freezes up.

Its a crap job anyway. Boring with little to do for 12 weeks (16 weeks sometimes) except clean and scrub pointless items, thats the Navy's solution for boredom, if it doesnt move, clean it, that will keep the chaps happy.
