  • "Playful!" - Time

"...fun for the whole family!" -Ebert & Roeper

"A heart-warming feel good film!' - Rolling Stone

  • This is a true masterpiece.. 9.8/10

  • Amazing this movie!

  • tarantino's all time favourite!

  • @calciumkid85 That's Battle Royale, punkface.

  • seems very interesting movie.i would like to rent the dvd tomorrow..

I heard about anti-american undertone in it, which makes this film more popular than it already was.

but i don't care. I just "in the right mode" to watch a highly artistic and classy european arthouse, because i do respect art.And that's all i want to do..

  • this movie looks sick, but what can I say - its Lars von Trier. there's something about it, though - its a must-see movie.

  • The name of the song is entitled: Grace Gets Angry. Artist: Joachim Holbeck. I found it on itunes. It's in the Manderlay soundtrack. There is no Dogville soundtrack. D'oh!

Enjoy. It's a great and (after watching Dogville) an eerie, haunting song.

  • Hallo America...

  • could someone tell me the name, artist from the first song that starts at 0:24

  • this guys films move u no matter who you are, one way or another, u like it or u dont like it

  • That's because Lars Von Trier dosn't care at all for continuity... He is barking mad, but that is the very thing that makes his films so interesting.

  • Come on. Don't be like that, or you won't make any sense. You may have not liked the filme, you may have found it depressing and tedious, but that does not mean the movie isn't good. Try to respect other people's opinions and they're work, like I respect your opinion and am not offending you in any way. I just think this is what the world is lacking, respect and tolerance.

  • Don't be like what?

I expressed my opinion, I did not say you have to agree with it. I respect others opinion but that does not mean I have to curb mine, or censor the way I express it.

  • they used her, and they like abused her and used her. And the lighting was... and they abused her and used her

  • the film is good, love the actors, especially paul bettany and nicole kidman

  • bah

  • I recently saw the movie as part of my Ethics class. It's more about human morality than crimes in America get past that stuff! This is everybody here! And thank god they ended the movie the way they did and justice was served.

  • Let me guess: You got an F on that Ethics class, didnt you?

  • Wow i love this movie, all it's messages and I love the part when the Town is destroyed!!! :)

  • Ya, unbelievably well done. Bravo. America is just a NAME reference. IT could be X, Y or Z, for that matter.

  • you are wrong this was the first movie of a trilogy that Lars Von Trier worte about the states... after the one he did for Europe.

  • I'm wondering what your nationality is..... ? LoooL it's quite obviuse actually! I have rarelly have seen an american liking this movie! Brovo actully!!!!!

  • I'm American and I liked this movie. In the end, Dogville is less anti-American than it is, quite simply, anti-oppression.

  • the country is representing. the whole world. the way the whole world acts and reacts.

there is no other, not for the moment, country that represents the whole world.

  • I dont believe that America's just a name reference. Dogville is part one of von Trier's "America"-trilogy, and he's stated his own negative impressions of America

  • are u a tard?

  • Why are you rude?

  • sorry, im kiding. just trying how its like to be "immature, drunken guy on internet". i personally like this movie and i dont think its antiamerican.

  • that's ok. the director have stated his negative views on america, but I guess maybe this movie is a critic about western soceity in general. everybody wins!

merry christmas by the way, you are beautiful!

  • I love the music!

  • Whats the music on the trailer called?

  • the music is from antonio vivaldi ...(cum dederit )

  • I really can't decide. Definitely love the movie and think it is beautifully acted. On the other hand, Lars does seem very anti-American and biased. Nicole and the cast are amazing.!

  • Very interesting film worth watching beautifully acted but I view it as a twisted misconception of America and its people. Lars has a twisted perversed view about only America. Hes Danish and comes from a sterile place where the people are all WHITE. I have to question his motives on why he feels so threatened about America and its people.

  • Actually the film is about how people in the West (not just America) treat immigrants, from initially wanting to help, to exploitation and using them as scapegoats. And not everyone in Denmark is white.

  • Speaking of misconception:) do you really think you know what denmark is like?:) you think that only a minor part of what he's trying to describe is truthful? That you shouldn't criticize america as much as other countries? Isn't it a bit paranoid to state that lars has a twisted view of america only? I think america's a great country by the way...

  • uhmm uve never been in Denmark have u?

  • Thanks for that. This film is magnificent. I am not sure if the follow up was as good, but I am keen to see what von Trier does with the final part.

  • Your welcome. I agree it's magnificent. I absolutely love this movie and I think it's Von Trier's best film.

  • the "chinese" subtitles are actually japanese. thanks for uploading, anyway! (:

  • thanks for letting me know. :) i changed the info
