My sister had a similar problem. She gained weight from steriods that she took because of kidney problems. She was advised by her doctor to exercise and watch what she ate, which she followed, and the weigh dropped off, in fact too much at the time.

I don't know when you started taking the steriods but the effects shouldn't be so long lasting. If they have been and you want to do something about it then see your doctor.
