for many years i have been a fan of Christy , from his roots with Moving Hearts and on to his many solo exploits and diverse collaborrations with other singer /songwriters .... an absolute genius writer and an awesome vocalist ....alas only once i have witnessed the man live on-stage ......tremendous performance i have to say ............live long & prosper Christy
It was written by Dave Goulder. Mike Harding did record an excellent version, it's on Bomber's Moon; download it from 7digital. Bert Jansch recorded a good version too.
A blessed storyteller that is a part of creation. We have forgotten how to tell stories, and give them meaning! Instead we sit transfixed in front of the TV. We have to wake up!
It's funny. In this age of instant gratification and unfortunately, manipulation; it is songs like these that are always passed on. A simple but poignant realization that we are part of the earth and the seasons are the rhythm of our lives. Especially here in Canada. Great old classic.
This is a gorgeous rendition of a superb song. I believe it was written by Mike Harding. It's the quintessence of the seasons. Anyone from a country with four seasons can relate to it. Sure, it comes from an age, not so long back, when more people lived closer to the land. I hope it's still sung a hundred years hence. Christy has such a human quality to his voice. I'd like to hear Mike Harding's version again.
good on your da... My dad used to sing me this song twenty some odd years ago, and it's with me still. Something you'll always have. My dad's passing from this world, though he's sitting just over there, and his songs, pipe smoke, wood shavings, and damp wool are what I remember first in life.... cheers-
ouch mann im sorry to here about your dad and your right the songs like this when were young stay with us to remind us of these childhood memories and yea im still young :P .....thanks mann.....
This is truely great. What a voice! I first heard this song three weeks ago, during a Sheffield/Amsterdam small organized folk weekend......I fell in love. Lisette
'tiocfaidh ar la' my hairy hole...........obviously unknown to you we have all moved on a bit? hey?......enjoy your plate of 'champ' southern boyo...lmao, just sit back and enjoy an artist at work...one of the best

A beautiful interpretation, haunting and atmospheric. I love the simple seasonal theme of this song....very grounding. Cheers Christy!

In my world he is officially a shaman, a storyteller, and a true reflection of feeling and profound human heart laid out for all to see.

Exquisite! I recognize Donal Lunny on keyboard. The guitarist looks familiar but I can't place him. Anybody out there know?
