most of the comments i read are wrong if you could speak spanish you would understand a shard of glass of sharp debris fell when the ladder co. was venting and caused a tear in the hose not to far from the couplink all the pressure caused the tear to get larger causing the hose to explode or what you may want to call it leading to injury

When a firefighter is down or injured the main focus is now turn towards the firefighter. In this scenario he was okay and need some medic attention but if a firefighter is calling a mayday the main objective is taking care of our own at that point.

If the fire was directly above the hoseline that failed, it could have been the result of the plate glass shards cutting the jackets.

Regarless Rule of thumb when you are taking or clearing out windows from upper floors make sure that the area below is void of all personnel and essential equipment.

We were doing pump training so when he yelled "charge the line" I complied and the kink in the hose knocked him on his simple ass. Priceless moment and he knew it was his fault for straddling the hose.
