I was raised on the bible and WHOLEHEARTEDLY sought god thru a great deal of my life!! Only thing is, he never showed his face! That book talks about us building a "relationship" w/ god? Yet, HE, supposedly made us to NEED contact, conversation and physical comforting??! Then he refuses to give us ANY of those things in reality?! Come on! At least I can build a relationship w/ a dog! It's tangible, loving, affectionate and will at least look me in the eyes when i talk!

Were you really expecting God to "show his face"? There's clear prejudice underlying that statement. Anyway, the relationship between a spiritual being and a human being is not experienced in quite the same way as a relationship between people, or people and animals, so the comparison is invalid.

It's not that God refuses to use those concepts, but that He's chosen to relate to us spiritually while we're in this present state of being. Think about something, all through the Bible whenever God related to people via physical means they more often than not grew accustomed to it and went astray. They even abused and murdered God when He became incarnate (Jesus). All of that was fore-ordained in order that we might see the need for a spiritual rebirth. Now we can relate to God spiritually.
