To Erika, I don't want a flame war here. I don't agree with "designer" snakes (albinos, aneurythistic, leucistic, pie-balds, etc.) and I only have one naturally colored boa. The only real reason a person should keep reptiles is for preservation or education (I go the education route). I do help out with chickens, and I love the birds as much as I love my snakes (I only have three snakes. My boa is the only exotic species). I do get upset with people who hate reptiles due to---

@Erika445566 Actually...chickens are rather world-wide, wouldn't you think? So it's completely natural for a snake (of any kind that reaches "chicken-eating-size") to eat a chicken. Unfortunately, my red-tailed seems very partial to rats. I've even tried squirrels with him, and he won't bother them. I haven't tried chickens, though, and am planning to give it a shot. I help out on a chicken-yard, and there are always some that need culling.

@Erika445566 Yours must all be free-range birds, huh? And what would you suggest feeding a snake in an enclosure? Hamburgers? I don't think that would work well. Also, chickens are unnatural in themselves. All chicken breeds arise from junglefowl ("game cocks" or "game chickens" are the closest to being "natural"). You think wild chickens have people walking by and giving them genetically-altered grain? Don't talk about what's natural and what isn't without staying true to the words.

It never gets old...watching a python or boa attack, kill & eat it's food. The food animal never wins, the snake never loses, but it's always just completely fantastic to watch it do it's business...not that I like to watch the animal get killed, but nature is raw & real without sugar coating it.
