How did you teach him to sit up? I've wanted to teach my kees that thing, because it's such classic dog trick, but I've got the feeling that she just wouldn't be able to do it, can't tell why really. Well, now I know there is another kees that can do it, I'll try my best to teach her! :)
@LinneaChristina You can teach it with luring by holding a treat above the dog's head while it's sitting. She'll automatically try and get the treat by stretching up into a beg - then you click and treat that position! Initially it's difficult for them to balance, so having a wall behind them helps. Good luck! I hope you'll post a video!
@TerraNik Usually I'm not that much into luring, I like more shaping and targeting, but for this I even tried luring. Still, she just won't take that position. She stretches her neck as far as she can, and when she still can't reach it, she rather tries to jump och standing on her hind legs. Hm.. A real challenge for me but I will come up with some idea, now when I know that it's not impossible for the breed ;)
@LinneaChristina You can use targeting instead if you prefer. Get her to target your hand or a target stick directly above her head. It sounds as though you might have the treat too high if she's jumping up.. You might need to shape the behaviour though - C&T if she's stretching up to the target/treat, then C&T for less weight on her front paws, then C&T for one foot off the ground, etc.
This trick is so cute! Did Jedi pick it up really quick? Zander seemed to know how to do this trick rather quickly without many trials. Jedi did awesome! 5*s
yay! i'm having a hard time teaching this trick to the corgi. Lance thinks his job is to spike down the toy and then dig it under him...? I'm sure we'll get it eventually, but any hints on how you started it?
I used his beg signal and then placed the toy near his arms and kinda moved it around so it was in place - C&T.
Then to give him the idea that he had to hold onto it, I would tug it gently from below - C&T.
And then to give him the idea that he had to hold it for a long time, I just did consecutive clicks while he was holding it (Jedi understands consecutive clicks = hold your position!). Then lots of treats.
thanks for sharing! I guess our problem is that Lance's stubby legs don't naturally come close enough together to keep a toy in place while he's begging. I know he can do it though, so I guess I'll just keep clicking for paws together :)
That was cute. Ahsoka was really paying attention to Jedi. Good job Jedi.

It's definitely not impossible for the breed.

He picked up the position of his paws quickly but had difficulty holding the toy by himself. I think it took 4x 5-minute sessions.

After that it was just a bit of practice.

HAHA I love it, sooo cute!!! And Soaks wants in on the action too. Is Jedi bigger than Soaks? Or just fluffier?

She had a turn afterwards... She's taking a bit more time to 'get it' than Jedi.
Ahsoka is actually just slightly taller than Jedi but Jedi looks bigger because he's much fluffier!
