what he is doing is basically drawing the calculations like 2 * 3 so he draws 2 lines wich will cross with the othr 3 and make 6 dots... its simple its just how we calculate things but this way he discovered is kinda advanced i basically just do lik this i imagine 3 organges multiplied by 2 ill have tu get another 3 oranges now i see 6 oranges =P

You dont need to draw it all the time if you understood what he does...for example 187*199 is way too big to draw it....

He's just doing it that way (Example 187 * 199)

1 * 1 = 1

1* 9 + 8 * 1 = 17

1 * 9 + 8 * 9 + 7*1 = 88

8 * 9 + 7 * 9 = 135

7 * 9 = 63

Now you get the results and do it the way he does, from back to beginning...If there are more than one number, the first one jumps one up...You ad the 6 of the 63 to the 135 so its 141 and you go on like that...

Result: 37213

Oh? Ah! My point there was that you would end up needing to count almost 200 points, and on the slots where are zero would eventualy surpress digits and so ending up all that work to obtain a wrong value.

This works great! Thanks loads. This will definitely help for big multiplication problems where a calculator is not allowed. This has a much smaller chance of making a computational error... since you're counting.

it's not a trick. you're just multiplying each digit of a number by each digit of the other using segments as unity. The order is obvious. Surely you can do 14x123. It gets 1 on left corner, 6 and 11 summing in the middle, 12 on right corner. So it gets 1722

I get 40 on left, 82 on middle and 48 on right side.

How do I multiplicate them? Or does it not work on all number combinations?

lemme explain 78x56=4368

now u put all the lines and u have 35 on the left not 40,82 in middle, and 48 on right.

its all moving numbers u move the 4 in the ones (right) to the tens (middle) in the tens u have 86 now move the 8 in the tens to the hundreds and in the hundreds (left) u have 43 so it is

43 hundreds,6 tens,8 ones= 4368 :) its all carrying
