Hey if your one of the people who are afraid you'll hurt yourself(like I was) try it against a wall first! Do all the steps of a backbend but instead of going to the floor stop yourself on the lower part of the wall then move your hands on the wall slowly to the floor. Really helped me-3

the reason you can't do it is because your pushing up your hips or stomach first and you'll never get up like that, you have to go with the arms.
So to help yourself get up, KEEP YOUR HEAD ON THE GROUND, AND SLIDE YOUR HEAD IN, PUSH YOUR HEAD IN TOWARDS YOUR LEGS..your arms will push yourself up while doing this and then you just extend your legs...

It could. It's easier the younger you are. I started doing dance and tumbling when I was a little girl (around 3) and now, at 15 it's much more difficult.

When I was learning how to do a backbend a loooong time ago,my teacher never grabbed me at the hips,in fact my teacher never taugh me,my friend spotted my back,and I went down on my own.It looks like it would be kinda uncomfortable to be grabbed at the hips lol
