I'm thinking of becoming an electronics technician. I have a tech. background from the Navy and a BA in Multimedia. But I REALLY want to be involved w/ electronic maintenance and repair. It looks iffy because it's purely online and I'm not sure if the tool kits are effective. Is it good? I can't be in a quiet lecture room anymore since I just been diagnosed w/ severe IBS. Online is ideal for me. Thanks anybody for info. And congrats to those who earned their certs.
@cellardoor199991 Hey if you think its iffy, its never a bad idea to check with any future employers that you might have in mind to see if they might think it would look better to learn in a different manner. Penn Foster is definitely an accredited school, but if you check with any employers you have in mind, the fact that you took the time to check in advance, might even speak for itself. Good luck!
@mich229 Really? How did you like it? I was thinking about that but the dream has to be put on the back burner - English teacher - I was thinking about doing it but i want to make sure it is a good program.
@mich229 Congrats! I'm thinking of becoming an electronics technician. I have a tech. background from the Navy and a BA in Multimedia. But I REALLY want to be involved w/ electronic maintenance and repair. It looks iffy because it's purely online and I'm not sure if the tool kits are effective. Is it good? I figure u would know because you're doing something tech., too. Thanks for any info.
I see many satisfied PF customers with the high school program. I took the PharmaTechnician certificate program and learned alot-but that was it. There are tech jobs all over where I live, but they wouldn't hire me w/o working as a clerk first @8.00/hr evenings and weekends. I make way more than 8.00 in my current job. And they said the certificate is by PF not the state, so I still would have to sit a state exam. Waste of time and money as far as the career certificate in PharmaTech.
that is 100% fine with me, but why not say that before purchasing the program. Seems like false advertising to me. I also got the licensing book for studying for my exam-and hardly any of what I learned from PennFoster was in it.
I am just letting folks know about this setup, before they are led to believe you will even be considered for a job.
pennfoster is a great school I am currently enroled in the physical therapy aid career diploma program and im almost finished.....pennfoster has been a great experience for me and have learned many new things...this school is affordable(especialy living in hardtimes today with the economy crisis) and easy to earn a digree I would recomend it to anyone!
No, it's not fake. Im taking the Computer Information Systems associates program and almost done. 1 more semester to go. I just hope I can transfer to Devry for my BA...
I am a Penn Foster student, I barely started 2 months ago and hopefully in the next 2 or 3 months I will graduate from high school :)
I love Penn Foster but there is one little problem, they ship my books a little late =/ which is not a big deal because while they're shipping i can start my exams online, but I would encourage you to take Penn Foster it has really changed my life and taught me a lot of great things :P
PF is listed on the Department of Education site and has a recognized accredited institution. Maybe to a little research before you throw out BS accusations.
well realy its up to you i myself have setup a plan of 1 exam every 3 days so i will be getting my high school diploma by early december i just started late january but if you work most days im sure it can be as low as 8 months.
i want to start this school.... like tomorrow im juss scared it wont really help me in the future... ii want to finish by febraury and it april now sooo yeaa any one think ii can do it ???? and ii really do ho[e they mail this stuff fast to my home !
For me i think now that i have dropped out of penn foster that a g.e.d. is the better option, sure the counslers of penn foster will tell you that a diploma is better but is an ONLINE HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA REALY BETTER?. An online diploma will be looked down upon more than a g.e.d. plus its $1295 over free classes and $110 test fee. G.E.D. > ONLINE DIPLOMA . do not be intimidated by the g.e.d. test its not that hard just brush up on a few subjects and u should pass it in about 1-3 months.

@gravelandgrain100 With some certificate programs you have to get state certified before you will get hired.
