@GnralexPlus I agree. But if current trends continue (Rock music has been on a steady decline since 2003 according to the article and now pop has overtaken it) nobody will sign new rock bands so once current ones stop/break up then rock will be no more.

I 100% agree that a lot of people do love pop (hence why it's so popular) but as a rock/pop-punk lover myself then I find it sad that perhaps there will be no new bands for my kids to like when I'm older!

Pop started off meaning popular like 40/50 years ago in the age of radio when music was really coming into its prominence, however as people/broadcasting become more liberal more genres emerged that the one or two easy going ones there were. Rock is, by definition, not pop. And secondly, I never once said people shouldn't listen to what they like, I said there won't be good bands for your kids to like if this trend persists.
