Reminds me of my father-in-law... Harold Gibson, Gunners Mate, WWII. Tinian, Guam, Saipan, Truk, Leyte Gulf, Philippine Sea. Served aboard the USS Iowa, and a tin can. His destroyer, USS Hadley, was attacked by 100 kamakazi and was nearly sunk. Decorated for heroism, he never spoke of it except once... the day he, his two sons (both US Navy vets), and myself (just out of boot camp), all sat down for a beer.
Thank you for a great video. I believe that George Wahlen is arguably the greatest living American hero. Thanks for helping tell his incredible story.
