absolutely one of his best songs next to Holy mother and old love. Such passion, such pain and projected in his voice and his guitar playing of every note. He is one of the reasons I still enjoy playing guitar at 61, music allows expression for sadness, happiness and all in between. This January 2nd 2012 is 2 years since I lost my mother right after her birthday! and I played along to a backing track of this tune last nite just to let go of some of my grief. Thanks Eric!

Me too, reduced to the max, I lost my husband almost 3 years ago. Though the pain from his passing still lingers deep, this makes it even deeper for me, but I know all I have are memories and grief, and this song is so beautiful is is almost cleansing. @threegirlpeaches I feel your pain, so young, and your children are so young also, my youngest boy was 12 when his dad died, I grieved for my husband and the life that was robbed from him, and also the pain my kids went thru losing their dad. It will get easier, time will heal wounds, but I believe something like this leaves a fracture on your soul that never really mends.

Song reminds me of how I feel about my ex-fiancee. The epitome of a heartbreaking song, and Clapton is the cream of the crop as far as I'm concerned and I've been a musician for 30+ years. I'm so grateful to have scored a ticket to his Indy show in July he's only doing 5 American dates. God Bless you Eric, thank you for all years (decades) of musical genius and memories. And some of the finest blues guitar work ever of course.
