I was reading a chapter in Augusten Burroughs' book, You Better Not Cry. In the chapter he describes meeting a black homeless big boned lady that sung opera. I mean who knows, that could be the very lady in the story, then again it is NYC, so.
She was on the #2 train yesterday. Her voice was very light. I do not know if she is actually homeless. Just because someone has a cup in their hand doesn't qualify them as being homeless or poor necessarily. She is talented though.
you are amazing for capturing this woman. i saw her at the 14th street F and have been trying to find her again ever since. there's something magical about her.
This woman has TALENT! It's such a shame that artists nowadays can barely sing and can have a hit record and this woman can really, really sing and she's homeless. It makes no sense.
are you serious???....she was homeless???...and singing....like that?????? and not on cds??? not out becoming what her voice would allow???....if i had the money shed never be on the street again...and shed sing with me...
why does everybody assume people singing in the subways are homeless??? they are not! she was selling cd's, how many homeless shelters have music studios with cd burners?
i am so glad you posted this. i saw her tonight at the 23rd st F station and she brought me to tears. i've been searching the internet for clues about her. i hope i get to see her again.
I saw her Thursday and thought about her today! Looking for more of her! I got a couple of seconds of her on video, but haven't learn how to upload!
