Lots of odd comments to this helo crash. I was on the ship when it happen. The tail stopped working as the pilot came in. The pilot shut off the fuel knowing they were going down. Lives were saved with this action. No one died. Don't leave stupid comments if you've never been there or lived it. The crew reacted as they were trained to. fire was put out and lives were saved.

@CorvetteBG ok 1st off, 99.99% percent of pilots say that landing and taking off are the hardest parts of flying. that's why statistically most crashes are on landing or taking off. 2nd, this crash was of no fault of the pilot. the drive-shaft going to the tail rotor assembly broke or "lost power" (0:55), causing the helicopter to lose stability and Newton's Third law of motion to go into effect.

If anyone, the mechanic who should have inspected the helicopter is responsible, as this crash was mechanical failure and not pilot error. they're just lucky that this freak incident happened on landing and not hundreds of feet above the ocean in the middle of nowhere.

it wasnt the tail losing power the retard piloting dosent understand that when you approach ground that this is not a trainer so there is no auto rudder, you have to controll it yourself. since the blade spins in one direction it sends the chopper that way when close to the ground because the blade is pushing off the ground. in the air it will not spin because the force of the blades arent even close to the ground.
