The eye witnesses probably couldn't tell the difference between molten steel and melted aluminum if their lives depended on it.
Steel loses it's structural integrity at 500 degrees, it's an excellent conductor of heat, and had literally tons of weight to bend it, all the conditions were perfect to warp and bend the steel, all the conditions were perfect for the beams to come loose.
BTW the T Beams were common throughout the structure, it wasn't fused, there were hundred of intact T beams.
