Which one of these controllers is best for virtual DJing. My cousin that does weddings does DJ emulation simulation mixing with a virtual DJ console, and he said I should get one with a stink button, because then I can go to the outside of the building and smoke cigs while doing the mix and never miss a beat.
what case is that for the vci-300? I need one, ive been using a wooden painted black type of table, on a piano stand. with the laptop stand that tightens on the wood. but everytime i scratch it shakes like crazy. where'd you get the table? wat model is that?
@Jimboslicemaster044 yes you can get your itch software to read the itunes library. open itch software > setup > library > select "show itunes library".

I wanna thank you for posting this. I have VCI-300 that I just recently purchased (yea, I'm a newbie); so I'm trying to get acclimated with all the bells and whistles.
@MlkePortnoy The Reloop definitely has more sound effect and advanced options. I went with the vci-300 because it was a Serato product and the places i spin at use either Scratch Live or itch.
thanks for the video man.. i have a question thou how do i refresh the songs that i already played that are in a yellow txt to white on the serato itch?
Thank you for taking the time to share this great info! I just got the new Vestax VCI 300 MKII this week and I am anxious to learn! Do you know of anyone who could provide some lessons or tips for an old Vinyl DJ who's turning techy? I'm in Orange County and looking for someone local.
@nkternl what up nkternal you can always hit us up during our live shows on Monday nights ,Wednesday mornings, wednesday nights, and friday mornings and we can give you tips while we are spinning. We stream our mixes in realtime with video.
@OwnagePranksfan1 you won't be able to do that. you'll have to 1/8" adapter that splits the wire to two rca wires and plub that into the vci. you can them at any radio show. let me know if that helps.
Thanks for posting the vid bro! So it's almost coming up to 2 years since you posted this video. Is this controller still running well without any problems? I have been thinking about picking this up instead of the rane/serato mixer and getting that one later on. Have you spun a gig with this setup AND your turntables so you can skratch on those?
@kuffa i've gotten used to the latency on it and i use it 100% of the time for mobile gigs. i use the rane/serato mixer in the studio for when broadcasting our live mix show. (our crew uses mostly vinyl and mp3s when we broadcast).

I have been thinking about picking this up instead of the rane/serato mixer and getting that one later on. Have you spun a gig with this setup AND your turntables so you can skratch on those?
umm. why the latency??? is it your computer? i have 17 quad core, 8gb ram,and solid state drives in my xps16 laptop. you think it will do the same for me?
I'm learning that no matter how fast the computer, it will never be responsive as vinyl. One just has to adjust when using this midi controller. This is my primary tool for doing mobile gigs. I use turntable when I do the cerritosallstars . com radio show.
@deejayvee123 i have had no problems with the quality of sound on my mac. I usually rip old hip hop tracks from vinyl and my ears can't tell the difference from a live mix verses a prerecorded mix.
@Boricuaswimma What up DJ QB...this keyboard cover is for Scratch Live...the Itch has most of the same shortcuts. When using the itch I try to use all buttons on the actual vci-300 unit.
So, this is very important to me, do the jog wheels actually have torque to them? i.e. when you let go of it while a track is playing can you feel the resistance so that it feels just right when dropping a track?
Seems like a cool toy but I think it would drive me crazy if there wasn't some sort of tactile sense of letting a track drop & instead it's just this flaccid wheel that doesn't go anywhere when I let it go. Know what I'm saying?
the jog wheel does have a torque control. it determines how fast the wheel spins when you let go of it, but even then it doesn't feel like vinyl.
you won't like the feeling at first but then you'll adjust. once your adjusted you can go back and forth between vinyl comfortably. definitely worth getting use to for mobile gigs.
@deejayvee123 I use the output from my extra output from the vci and use a 1/8" adapter to go into the input of my macbook. I use quicktime pro to capture the inputted sound. (Just remember to go into system preferences > sound > and choose "line-in".) You can use any audio software like "garage band", "audio hijack" "Mixmeister Fusion" or "audion".
Scratches sounds nice. I need to try it out somewhere. See if the scratches and beat juggles are the same. The demo-dude was talking about latency, that's a thing your don't want.
So far Serato Scratch has proven to be pretty good for hiphop, scratch type dj's. This product has good potential I think bacause it's Vestax and Serato together.
@filipinorice I just bought a new VCI and i'm not sure if it was the new hardware or the latest version of the software but the latency problem did get a lot better. Am very happy with the purchase
hey man how you doing.look i am pretty new to this new kindda lap top mixing thing but i gotta few questions.1can you line you're mixing up on you're headphones like you would on a normal vinyl and mixer set up.2when you download tracks from certain online stores how easy is it to find them once you have downloaded them and then to put on to the vci300 and use them.i am sorry for my ignorance like i said i am new to this
This built-in mixer is setup to function like any regular, analog mixer. You can hear either mp3 or both in the headphones. As far as downloading, just keep them all in one folder and point your software to that location. Or you can use import your library to iTunes and have the The Itch read your playlist. I hope that helps.
Well I picked up the VCI- 300 and I've been playing with it on my desktop. It's hangs up a bit but I expected it to, my desktop is old pentium 4, say 2003ish. Anyway, my new Macbook Pro 17" arrives today, so I'm stoked to get started with it. 4GB of Ram with the 320 GB Hard Drive @7200, and the 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor. Whew, I got wood...... I'm think I'm gonna do the 1TB Time Capsule as a home back up and a 1TB WD MyBook Studio Edition for the portable back up. What do you think?
What are the specs of your laptop dude? My hommie is using a dual core CPU and doesn't have any issues, but on my single core computer it lags a bit.....
everything works fine.....no latency issues, check ya system....make u hard da maximum requirements, and get da updates...vci-300 is great, especially wit da serato software
How is it possible to have an onboard audio interface in VCI-300 and have latency ??? Or it's still buggy or the man doesn't have any idea of configuring hardware or software...

There is USB buffer setting for latency that I hadn't played around with prior to Redline's demo(default setting). For the demo, i wanted to keep it at factory setting. I've since set the setting accordingly it seems better now.

You can go to set up and adjust the latency to the left so the unit will respond faster.
This is key if you want to use the mike input so there is no delay.
