My Dad did that last week, but he is only eighty odd. He props open the gas pedal with the leg of his walking frame so he can climb over the rear seat and snooze on long trips too.
Someone remarked to me once that Foghat were from England. I told him that I did not know that cajuns came from the UK. This music is swamp boogie funk.
My Dad seen these guys in 1977 With Rick Derringer Opening in Tampa! He Said alot of Booze,Ludes714,Coke,Joints, and Chicks passing out in his arms.Oh! the 70's Baby!
@ stargazer.....saw them on fool for the city tour...loudest show Id ever been to.Cant believe u mentioned Starz they were great. The Attention Shoppers album is classic.
This is so fuckin' awesome! Finally found some real Foghat Live footage! saw them at my first concert ever in 1977 at Anaheim Stadium with Frampton, J.Geils Band and Rick Derringer!
My dad told me that my mom fucked the drummer in Chicago. She worked as a manager in her dad's clothing store. Foghat came in and bought clothes for the nights' show and apparently the drummer fucked my mom later that night.
Come December 1st,me along with thousands of southern rock fans will be rockin' to Foghat & many more amazing artists!ROCK LEGENDS CRUISE might create a tidal wave on the eastern side of Florida. No Slow Ridin' on this ship but we will be definetly rockin' to this!
Sure sounds Great hearing Lonesome Dave's intro...again. After all these years, man....bought this album new (Fool For the City) & played this tune incessantly. Awesome Live Band......had the pleasure of seeing them 3 times 73, 74 & 75. Still one of the best bands of that era (in my opinion) & THAT covers ALOT of GREAT BANDS! Aerosmith, ZZTOP, Montrose, Lynyrd Skynyrd (73&76) B.O.C., Bad Co. Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Marshall Tucker to name a few that I saw & these guys ripped withthebestofem!

heard this a decade or so after most of you guys in one of those "hits of the 70s" blue-screen tv ads. Then "Dazed and Confused" came out. I think I got a fuzz pedal the next day lol
Saw them several times and never was disappointed. The best concert I ever saw was in Cleveland with Them as headliners to Blue Oyster Cult and Starz! What a show! That place was Friggin rockin! Packed house, 20,000 jammin out!
Great band great song saw them at The Arragon Ball Room in Chicago with Thin Lizzy and Black Oak Arkansas in 76. We called it the Brawl Room cause it was the only venue in town that had festival seating back in those days. You'd pay for a seat, get there real early and stand in front of the stage up by the speakers getting pushed and shoved the whole show. Great times. Thanks for the trip back :)
The band initially featured Dave Peverett ("Lonesome Dave") on guitar and vocal, Tony Stevens on bass, and Roger Earl on drums. After leaving Savoy Brown in December 1970, they added Rod Price on guitar/slide guitar and formed Foghat in January 1971
This is without a doubt one of the greatest rock songs by one of the greatest rock bands of all time. It is a shame they dont get more airplay on the classic rock stations. And they are some of the most down to earth guys you could meet. Even in during the 70's and 80's, they would never refuse an autograph, a picture or share a cold beer at the local pub. Just all around good guys. I miss the old days of great rock and roll.
So completely solid. Those of us lucky enough to have seen Foghat back in the day know that they blew most bands off the stage and when I listen to so-called Classic Rock stations these days, these guys don't get a lot of airplay of late. It's a shame because they made good records and were simply a MONSTER live band. First saw 'em with Blue Oyster Cult and The Pat Travers band in '80 or '81 and it was just incredible. Saw 'em a few more times after that and they always delivered.
I love these guys. Had their 8 track in my car when I was a Senior. Saw these guys in Indianapolis the summer I graduated(1978). Totally awesome. Brings back tons of memories, all good.
@ghipszky I graduated in 1977 and moved to Indianapolis in 1978 too/ Did you see them along with Styx, ELO, Thin Lizzy at the fairgrounds by any chance ??? I might be thinking of that big outdoor all day concert they use to do in Lexington KY perhaps ..... lots of drugs in the 70s ya know.:)
@PooPooOnMyNewShoe Actually I saw them when they opened the new Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis. There was a huge room. they had 2 stages set up at opposite ends. First Foghat came on, then on the other stage Charlie Daniels played. Fantastic night!!!
@ghipszky I remember when I saw The Commodores and Billy Joel (13 encores btw) in Market Square when it was new. Great shows. I attended soooo many GREAT shows in the 70s and 80s. I was also at the deadly Who concert at the new Cincinnati OH convention center :(.....wow....VanHalen, Alice Cooper,Foghat,ELO,Jethro Tull,Deep Purple, GFR,The Who,Three Dog Night, Sweet, Chicago,Molly Hatchet,Thin Lizzy,TedNuget, etc etc. tell me when to stop:)
@ghipszky Good times. Billy Joel did a record 13 encores there in I think 79-80, when ever "piano man" released. It lasted nearly 2 more hours. Talk about getting your moneys worth:). Kids now days don't have it that good I don't think. Times are different. For all we know you and I may have been to the same shows. Perhaps passed the "wacky weed" to each other.:) Good talking to ya my friend:)
@PooPooOnMyNewShoe I remember concerts were a big deal in Indy back then. For us kids down by Bargersville, it was a dream come true to see those great bands. Also, saw Barry Manilow and John Denver during that time period. After that I went to Colorado for a visit and just stayed. Saw lots more great bands at McNichols Arena in Denver, including Cinderella when they went out with BonJovi in '87.
We saw them open for Van Halen, 1983? at the Hollywood Sportatorium, aka,"SweatBox" at the edge of Florida's Hot Everglades, Gator Wrestling in the back,Keg Beer in the Pick-Up Trucks out front,Ladies,Smoke, it was like "what band is gonna play the longest?" HOT! I ended up in the clink everytime, cops would toss You out the back, and throw your wallet in the "Moat" what a time!! Yeee Haww! Slow-Ride, Rock-On, I can still hear the echoes in that tin building, You know the Rythym is RIGHT!!!
Foghat seemed to warm-up for a lot of bands in the Midwest in the 70's-early'80's. I seen them I think over 10 times. I don't know if is was a Pontiac, MI Kiss concert. I seen him and later i the show Rik Neilson-Cheap Trick get hit by plastic jugs and fris-bees. Until Tom Peterson asked people to chase down and beat that persons @ss. My first concert.
I had just finished my time in the army and was getting ready to leave Germany and come back home to Kentucky when this song was released and loved listening to it on the radio headphones on my flight back home!!! remember how cool the beat was and that slide guitar had to coolest sound...A truly awesome song that was and it DID relate to my flight home to..IT was a slow ride...8 hours long!!!That was ok though...I had a few of the drinks of the tiny bottles of jack on my way..LOL!Thks 4 this:-)
if this doesn't kick you in the nutz, then my friend you don't have none...loved to listen to Foghat Live back in the day..one of the best live albums..next to All The Worlds A Stage. by Rush
Back in the day at Larsen Jr High in Elgin Il 77-79, We had a Jukebox in our lunch room I remember hearing Slowride everyday , We played it more than Zepplin !
At my sister's 18th birthday party (1978) all the music being played was disco crap but then her boyfriend broke out his Led Zep, Kiss, Cheap Trick & Foghat albums and didn't the party take off then!
@chocolateman85006 The only drawback is that you would be my age & you don't wanna give them 20yrs away for nuthin' mate. Your profile says that you ain't no kid but let me tell ya, don't ever wish your days away - the fuckin things disappear quicker than a pie on Oprah's plate & you never get 'em back again! Some complain about Led Zepp being finished or Duane Allman + SRV being dead - but thankfully YouTube keeps them alive for me & rekindles fantastic memories that I sometimes like to share!
8 track fucked up .. thru it out the window on highway from vancouver to kelowna ..six hour trip made it in three ..what aride in the nova ss ..78 i think
Foghat is doing a concert with Blue Oyster Cult in Sunbury, Pa. at the grounds of the Spyglass Winery on July 9, 2011... Can't wait for that one... 15 miles from my home.. Kansas was there for July 2010 and they rocked. Thanks for uploading....
@maddogwrestlingfan Hey Mad Dog! That brings back memories of seeing BOC and Foghat at the Springfield Civic Center (MA) in 9/81. Brad Whitford & Derek St. Holmes opened the show (Whitford-St. Holmes Band), and all three bands kicked serious ass. It was Craig MacGregor's birthday that night (Foghat's bassist) and they brought out a big cake on stage for him. That was the tour where Foghat was starting to do "New Wave" music a bit, and a lot of people were disappointed with their new stuff.
I saw Lonesome Dave with a Christian band in about 1983. A few years after that, my band opened for Foghar in Dallas for a great show. Dave was still alive then and this singer was still with them. Keep rocking, Foghat. Thanks for the memories.
This is when Rock was Rock. Real Rock nRoll!! The 60s,70s and early 80s were the cats ass man. After that, forget it. I feel bad for kids today, they have no clue what Real honest R&Roll is or was. The shit the labels pump out for them today is just that, shit. And Rap?? Are u shittin me?? Give a retard a mic, scream unintelligably into it, and jump around like he has hot coals up his ass.Yup, gee Im sorry I missed that artistic genius allright, LMAO. I'll live and die with my Rock n Roll baby!
@suebee3490 I hear ya. The old 8 tracks were OK,and ridin around with friends, having fun, not out to cause destruction. I think I paid $6.50 to see Foghat, and I paid $7.50 to see zeppelin. I cant believe it. Now you spend $75 a ticket and you get to see them lip sync and jump around to pre-recorded music. Nope, Im glad I was a kid back then. Great music, great times, good friends. A $600 car, pair of Speakers in rear window, who could ask for more?
@MegaBob77777 Yes my poor old 8 track was a hand-me down from my older brother to my older sister to me. By the time i got it, well you can imagine. Riding with my friends in my 67 mustang. We would have to jam cardboard around the 8track to hold it in place or the tape would drag. haha I remember getting the tape in and the folded up cardboad in place all around the tape and then hitting a pothole and pieces of cardboard would fall out and we'd have to start over again. what great memories

I seen him and later i the show Rik Neilson-Cheap Trick get hit by plastic jugs and fris-bees. Until Tom Peterson asked people to chase down and beat that persons @ss. My first concert.

That was the tour where Foghat was starting to do "New Wave" music a bit, and a lot of people were disappointed with their new stuff.
elc1960 1 year ago

MegaBob77777 1 year ago
@MegaBob77777 me too - i wish I could go back. had all the foghat 8 tracks. we all knew what was "meant" by this song without actually saying it
suebee3490 1 year ago
@suebee3490 I hear ya. The old 8 tracks were OK,and ridin around with friends, having fun, not out to cause destruction. I think I paid $6.50 to see Foghat, and I paid $7.50 to see zeppelin. I cant believe it. Now you spend $75 a ticket and you get to see them lip sync and jump around to pre-recorded music. Nope, Im glad I was a kid back then. Great music, great times, good friends. A $600 car, pair of Speakers in rear window, who could ask for more?
MegaBob77777 1 year ago
@MegaBob77777 Yes my poor old 8 track was a hand-me down from my older brother to my older sister to me. By the time i got it, well you can imagine. Riding with my friends in my 67 mustang. We would have to jam cardboard around the 8track to hold it in place or the tape would drag. haha I remember getting the tape in and the folded up cardboad in place all around the tape and then hitting a pothole and pieces of cardboard would fall out and we'd have to start over again. what great memories
