Last month I saw that show where the spoiler middle & upper class Americans (mainly white) show off their houses (Teen Cribs? as I thought it was the last good show they had left) & showed no enthusiasm or too much enthusiasm, basically got on my nerves. I thought it was going to be interesting but most of the teens on that show drove me off it for good.
I personally never got the appeal of MTV, personally. Even back then, I probably wouldn't like it, mainly because they never played most of the music that I like but MTV really needs to go off the air. They play nothing but reality shows anyways.

I guess to clarify some more, I don't hate the old school MTV songs. I'm still a fan of Nirvana, AC/DC, Guns and Roses, Butthole Surfers, and other bands that I remember seeing MTV music videos of. Still, I recognize its corporate influence.
They will never play artists like Choking Victim, Immortal Technique, and East Coast Avengers.

I guess to clarify some more, I don't hate the old school MTV songs. I'm still a fan of Nirvana, AC/DC, Guns and Roses, Butthole Surfers, and other bands that I remember seeing MTV music videos of. Still, I recognize its corporate influence.
They will never play artists like Choking Victim, Immortal Technique, and East Coast Avengers.

At least there's someone who not only rants well but realizes that MTV is (and always has been) a corporate tentacle on the Viacom octopus, and they won't play anything truly subversive like underground hip hop or hardcore punk.
The stuff MTV plays (both then and now) is safe in terms of keeping us in line. Sure, I like the old stuff better, but still, it's more or less completely corporate manufactured.
Fast food is our bread and corporate media (like MTV) is our circus.

well they host reality shows because now that we have advanced we have ipods, mp3s, iphones i mean know one needs to watch tv to listen to music. MTV shows tv shows now because if they show music they wouldnt be making any money therefore they follow the rules of TV, MTV to me always sucked im 12 so i might be wrong but thats my opinion.

I also believe that the corporate media wants to dumb down society in terms of psychology in tern to make money off our misfortunes. For example LiL Wayne listeners have been correlated in a study to present the lowest I.Q scores, yet MTV pushes the shit out of him..
