Just to set the record straight, the reception for the premiere did happen at the Georgian Terrace, but the actual screening of the premiere happened at the Loew's Grand a mile or two south and which no longer exists, as it burned in 1978. GWTW did not make its premiere at the Fox.
@Philcov I stand corrected. I actually found that out but had forgotten i shouted that out here. Thanks yeah - I was shocked I had thought that so long, when .. if we go back .. makes sense .. Gone With The Wind was an MGM original .. wheres the premiere?? LOEW (of Marcus Loew..MGM Owner)'s chain of theater! Thanks!!
sorry, i don't have any interesting hotel stories to tell. you were happier than a buzzard on a gut wagon? & you could just "squirt" happiness? hmm haven't heard those southernisms from lemonette ;)
I stayed at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, walked the star lined streets, visited the Manns Chinese theater and Andy Griffith filmed an erpisode of Matlock in the hotel while I was staying there.
Now it seems the lounge or bar in that hotel is a big hang out for Hollywood stars.
You know? I honestly wish that I had a good story of a memorable hotel, but unfortunately, I do not. I do share your interest in the early days of Hollywood. My dad was a 'extra' in several movies in the early days. Gone with the Wind is, indeed, a classic that will never be forgotten! I hope to someday visit the south (my roots are from Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas) and see the old plantations. Thanks for sharing! WONDERFUL video (BIG smiles)!
I totally forgot about this video. Nice to see the footage. Now I know why I didnt get another answer back in text...you was busy. REALLY hope to see you this week.

Happier than a buzzard on a WHAT? LOL
Very cool seeing a bit of Hollywood history. Wow, 70 years ago...
In answer to your question at the end, I can't remember any that would compare - although the place where ST1 took place was impressive in every way.
