that's true, but technically, a very fine v-fib will appear as asystole on a thorax ecg, as the remaining electricity is too low to be recognized. only a HIS bundle ecg could reveal the remaining activity in this case. but it's true, a real ASYSTOLE means the heart cannot be defibrillated.
@bionerd23 true, but you shouldn't shock asystole simply becuase it might be fine VF. This will increase damage to the myocardium and will result in less time on the chest doing compressions - which means an interuption in coronary flow.
Personally I wouldn't inflate the cuff on the ET tube until I had the BVM connected, but its interesting to see how different regions (countries) have different approaches to ALS! :-)
you can't use a defibrillator on cardiac Asystole. Only on V-fib

Doing cardiac massage is damn knackering. I'm suprised during auscultation that they give him 4 breaths.

I believe the current protocol is 30:2 (pumping to breath)
Heart > Lungs

Yes it is. Even if you fail to inflate the lungs on either of your breaths (or both) you are still permitted to do only 2 breaths.
Perhaps it's because it's even more important to ensure that the placement of the tube is correct, I'm not sure. (I'm only a first year)
