After viewing this clip several times, I'm convinced that Phelps did touch first, and that FINA did nothing wrong about awarding the gold medal to Phelps. It's just that it's hard to tell a 1/100th of a second difference. I don't see how Cavic's touch would be too soft to activate the pad properly so it would be "delayed" for a 1/100th of a second. And Phelps' touch wasn't much harder, it just looks like it, because he had more vertical speed in his hands than horisontal speed.

the olympics are the paramount of fair play and elite competition. The computers at the olympics are the most sensitive and accurate in swimming. they recorded michael phelps the winner by 0.01 seconds. no human eye, no matter how good the camera angle, can detect 0.01 seconds difference. on all the cameras they look so simultaneous that only a computer could sense it, and the computer says phelps wins. thats all there is too it, cavic is just jealous and has no case.

I want you all to think about what the olympics are about, first off.
They are about bringing the world together. Yet somehow, modern human nature (excluding NO country), has still somehow made it another way to attack each other. I personally think phelps did win, and fairly; however, I think that all accusations and heated arguments do in this case is create the beginnings of a chasm between both countries and individuals, which is something that any reasonable person doesn't want.
