I wanted to let friends know that I am now offering music lessons and consults on Skype. Just come to my website NancyRumbel and send me a note if you are interested. My time is very flexible so international friends don't hesitate. I've been playing the ocarina for several decades and have a lot of experience as a player, recording artist and composer. Hope to meet some of you there! Nancy
I love NR and ET. Does anyone know... it is difficult to learn to play the ocarina? I'm not the most musical person (don't play an instrument), but it's really appealing. Is it like learning the harmonica? :-o Thank you!
@chisaoboy The instruments vary quite a lot. It should not be hard to get a sound out of the instrument -- but like all instruments the more you practice, the better you will sound. There are many who blow on the ocarina, but not so many that play well :)
Very beautiful sound. I recently have gotten an ocarina and caught the bug! It is a fun new adventure after playing piano. I will have to look around at some more of your music as I am listening to you for the first time.
This is a really great peace and well performed with horn guitar and especially ocarina just beautiful I hope to play ocarina with an orchestra and spread it's beauty someday soon. Haha maybe my university will let me do that xD haha.
It's kinda weird. Youtube kept giving errors when I posted those reactions below, without a single one getting through, and now there is a double post. I don't get youtube.
Anyway, I found this from a link on the ocarina network.
I happen to know a good guitarist, and I own a clarinet and two Focalink ocarinas, maybe I can do something similar. I don't have a lot of skills yet though
@marcoxmeijer Yes it is! It is an alto double. I have used their instruments since they started. Prior to that time I performed on Alan Albright double ocarinas. He passed his instrument making skills on to double ocarina. We will have to blog the story sometime as it was a great time for sure!
Respond to this video... Thanks -- always good to be freaking amazing!! You will have to go to the double ocarina website and check what their current prices are.
what kind of Ocarina is being used? a Double;Tenor, Soprano, alto please tell i have to know, this song is so amazing :) i play it while i rock my baby to sleep
I do too! We'd love to come perform in London -- we need a booking agent and some financial guarantees and we'll be there! Thanks for the great support!
@ebeyslanding That would be definitely amazing! Your music always inspires and releases me..."in The Garden" is something I could listen to for days. Keep on movin!
wow, i love ocarinas so much! this song is amazingly beautiful, the melodies of the soothing ocarina and the guitar go together so well, along with the oboe-looking instrument in the middle :) great video, i would like to have a chat with nancy about ocarinas!!
Hi - I just checked online! I've so many places to check mail that I could just do that all day and never make any music! haha I play double wooden ocarinas In this video it is a tenor. The instrument in the middle is an English horn!! thanks for stopping by!
i went and saw you guys at the thumbnail theater in snohomish WA, i though it was great. do you have any arrangements for this peice? or know where i could find it

Utterly beautiful. I think I even cried a bit. :) I love the sound of a ocarina so much and if I can produce such lovely songs half as good as you are, I will be so happy :)
So lovely! Thank you for sharing. I've had an ocarina for some time, and am now motivated to keep practicing! That melody is just hauntingly beautiful.
You truly are an inspiration! this was beautiful! I'm a beginer in both guitar and Ocarina so I can appreciate this even more.
I know the guitar is way out of my league as of now but I'm going to practice this song over and over again on my ocarina until I have it mastered. I just don't think I'll be able to play it 100% correct on my 12-hole. I'll practice accompanying you two while you play the horn:) I'd love to meet such amazing artists as yourselves!
i discovered this vid a few months ago and i still watch it alot :) its so relaxing! i've been playing ocarina for about 8 months now and i would realy like to try this song one day :) i also uploaded some vids of me playing ^^
your music wants to make me cry, it is lovely and beautiful.I hope you will post more songs and i love yor ocarina. Could you tell me which one is it iam buying want soon . thank you again for wonderful song
You are welcome -- I am happy that you are enjoying the music so much. If you look up doubleocarinadotcom you will get in touch with the lovely instrument makers that create this instrument now. It is a double wooden ocarina tenor. Thank you.
Hi Nancy thanks for the info , actually after i saw you playing this double ocarina, i ordered all the 3 double ocarina they have and thank you for sharing this wonderful instrument to all of us.
Your ocarina looks like a double chambered mountain ocarina, it has a lovely tone to it. I hope you make more videos soon, youtube only shows one. Love your music
Hi, thank you for stopping by. My son created this wonderful video -- and yes I know, I will try to get some more up. If you look at my favorite videos, I think that should link you to a couple of other performances that a friend also recorded. I will try to get some new data up before the next century!!!
thank you! I have been playing since I was a small child -- music that is!! I bought my first ocarina probably in 1979 or 1980. They are wonderful instruments.
Thank you --- yes I agree. I found this melody to be so compelling that I thought it would be a wonderful piece to perform!!! Great time to play it --- as it is about the Spring Maiden!
i tried the ocarina (a straight ten hole) about five or so months ago (i didnt keep with it though, i'm actually a guitar player, just wanted to try), and i found this video of yours back then, and i still listen to it a couple times a months... just soooooooooo beautiful... soooooo relaxing and overwhelmingly awesome... yet so simple, i LOVE this song!!
Hi Thank you so much. I actually play an instrument that is simpler than a 10 hole ocarina. Mine is basically two 4 holed ocarinas - the left side is tuned down a fourth. If you go see doubleocarinadotcom you can find out more about the instrument my friends make!
Well it's a funny story, but I actually do use both chambers to extend the octave range on the one side down a fourth to the left side. Because it was the first ocarina I came in contact with, it became my instrument of choice. If you watch some of the other videos like Sweet Potato -you will hear an example of both chambers being played at once! Good question thought!
wow this is pretty relaxing! I didn't realy know what folk music sounded like, I always thought it was hill billie music =P lol... guess not this is pretty good!
Hi,Not yet! However, Eric and I did record on our Grammy CD Acoustic Garden a beautiful Chinese piece entitled Clear Moon, Quiet Wind which uses English horn with guitar. Thanks for writing!
Well i enjoyed this video.. It's funny that a 17 year old kid can listen to metallica, panterra, electronic trippy music, jazz music, rap and still find this sort of style as my favorite...
Truelly you are amazing. And truelly an inspiration. Thanks for uploading :)
I attended your concert in langley tonight. Excelent work, I was probably one of four teens at the concert which is truly sad considering how brilliant your work is compared to the artists my peers listen too. I also attended the 2006 concert and I hope to attend in in 2009. Thanks.
Thanks for coming to the show. We had a great time too. Glad you found my youtube sight --- notice the ebeyslanding?? I'm still a novice at youtube in terms of managing the site correctly and trying to get people to come watch!! Any ideas?
I looked up your video because of a recent interest in Korean Ocarina music, and must tell you I was enchanted by this performance. Thank you so much for enriching my life. You are terrific!
Thanks for stopping by -- sorry that I didn't respond sooner! I hope that you were able to watch the other two videos with ocarina -- Sweet Potato and Chaco --- you might enjoy them too. Oh we might have Give & Take up there too! Happy Thanksgiving
Thank you for your beatiful play. I have never seen that kinds of ocarina. I often play ocarina, too. Especially I'm moved that you play a Korean lyric song. I like to hear more songs of you. Where can I meet them?
Thank you for taking the time to listen and write to me. You can hear more ocarina music on this site on the other videos here. I have been recording ocarina pieces for over 25 years so there are many songs on the CDs that I have released Nancy Rumbel
Hi sure --- it is a double wooden tenor ocarina . They can also play two notes at once --- if you check out my other videos you'll hear an alto doing that on Sweet Potato --- it's really fun. Their instruments are at doubleocarina dot com
Great to hear from you and I hope that all is well! Isn't this a riot to watch each other on youtube? I'll look forward to hearing and seeing you LIVE sometime!
I wanted to let friends know that I am now offering music lessons and consults on Skype. Just come to my website NancyRumbel and send me a note if you are interested.

Thanks.

Wow, pure magic... ...beautifully played.
Keep up the GREAT WORK!
Made me cry a bit... Listning to one of the musics from my own country.
So lovely.
Its hard to make the ocarina sound so 'mystical'.

Hi sure --- it is a double wooden tenor ocarina . They can also play two notes at once --- if you check out my other videos you'll hear an alto doing that on Sweet Potato --- it's really fun. Their instruments are at doubleocarina dot com
