Kitty Genovese was actually my fathers first cousin, it was proven that although she was walking home very early in the morning it was proven she was stabbed repeatedly by the same man, he would stab her rape her and leave then come back and repeat it. funny thing was last week in my psychology class we were discussing the bystander effect and my second cousins name came up. it proven if one person called the police one the first or second assault she would most likely be alive today
I think because of the time it was happening early morning she was left on her own. The attacker found it easy realising no one was coming and he carried on. This is terrible and scary path society is heading towards.
Thank you for posting this and not glorifying Kitty Genovese's Death. Aronson's "The Social Animal" is an excellent book that speaks to the social psychological issues that come into play in this & similar incidents. The initial photos of where the attacks occurred for Kitty are hard to see as they are actual images of the area where she was attacked in Kew Gardens, Queens. I don't watch the news as I can't watch the glorification of violence, yet violence exists and needs to be stopped...
