Meisner didn't start the Group Theatre. That was Cheryl Crawford, Lee Strasberg and Harold Clurman. Meisner was selected by those three to be a part of it.
Performing is experiential, not intellectual. Obviously, we continue to change over a lifetime. Good training in the performing arts, whether it is in music, singing, dance, or acting, can have a beneficial effect on a person, that's all. Stanislavski believed that there was no final answer, no "system", only creative organic nature. Sandy's technique has proven beneficial for American actors. Let's not forget Stella Adler, and other members of The Group Theatre, as well
I cant belive the bulshit she is talking !!!!!!!!where did she take this bull!!!!!! Defenetly not at the Neighborhood playhouse in Ney York!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One needs to go there in order to understened the Meisner Technique !My God poor actors do they actualy buy this bull she is saying?
You missed Meisner completely. Sanford Meisner said "Acting is Living Truthfully under imaginary circumstances." Living truthfully means you are the character, not imagining another character.
good video except the fact that you cannot experience the emotion of anyone but yourself, the emotion you experience comes from you and it would be impossible to experience the true emotion of a character like hamlet or macbeth, al pacino or anyone at least in my books.
@aamoio09 - Harold Clurman, Cheryl Crawford, & Lee Strasberg started it in 1931 under the auspices of The Theater Guild. founding members included Sandy Meisner, Stella Adler, Luther Adler, Morris Carnovsky, and Robert Lewis. Sandy began teaching at The Neighborhood Playhouse (my alma mater, where I studied with him) in 1935.
I love it . sounds like a really creative technique

Meisner never said that he thought the emotions come from the character. Emotions come from yourself.

Well, I guess that's just the price you have to pay for democracy . . . right?
Anyone can say anything they want . . . about anything they want . . . even if they in fact know nothing . . . about anything.

why did this woman feel the need to announce she was a membor of AEA? Does she think it makes her a better actor if she is?

Very good! None of that vague artsy bullshit that most acting teachers spew. just concise helpful instruction.
