For a 4 cyl to make that your gonna have to get a larger turbo on 10+psi and maybe think about bigger injectors and a forged bottom end. @wilaxpro7 no, my car is currently stock and im starting my build. but what im saying in my first post is that imports really are not known for making 10 sec ET's all motor. it takes alot of money/work to do that. 9/10 times, sub 12 second imports are boosted... running like 20psi and more. Sure their fast cars but a V8 on 20psi is not going to have ANY trouble beating a worked up 4 or 6 cyl on the same amount of boost.

really? that's an 03 cobra (400+ hp stock) against a couple neons (~250 hp stock). 4.6L supercharged against 2.4L turbo? theres nothing little about that cobra compared to the neons. i'd have to say that from my point of view... the neons are boss even if they're a little slower than a TERMINATOR.

A ported eaton cobra will hit 500 to 520 max. The blower cant push anymore air. its to small. take these 2 neons off race gas or let the cobra owner run race gas and its a completely diiferent race. Im not impressed with race gas 4 cyl cars running with anything. To me its not a street car if its on racegas
You must also consider the cost here... those neons cost a hell of a lot less to modify than that cobra cost to buy and modify. Those neons above are that fast purchased for $6000 + 3K in mods. For 8 grand you're pullin' on a $25,000 used cobra. For the same price .. cost for cost those neons would run 9s.

I mean its already upgraded and at 26 psi on race gas. Thats about as far as its going to go reliably. A ported eaton cobra is kinda and entry level 03 cobra today. With a 2.9 whipple or 2.8H kennebell they are laying down BIG numbers on pump gas and into the 800 rwhp range on race gas. All on the stock engine at that.
Uh, no.... There are tons of 500+ HP SRT-4s out there with over 150,000 miles on them all while getting 30 MPG... no reliability problems at all. In fact,.. most of those 500 hp srts are on stock internals. Hell, up until recently there was a 9 second SRT-4 being daily driven... he's now in the 8s and has since trailered the car.
@MrBadfish2 There may be some 500 hp neons running around but at 500 whp its going to be on race gas and an aftermarket turbo. Neons have cast cranks and mahle eutectic castings which means cast pistons. At 500 whp those pistons are not going to last 150,000 miles under those conditions. You may have 1 or 2 out there that get lucky but not at 500 whp. These neons in this vdeo are at probably 400 whp and that 26 psi and race gas. To get another 100 hp its going to take more boost and a built motr

My point is that these 2 skittles are on race gas so they obviously have there cars tuned to take advantage of that. On similar set ups a bigger cubic inch engine will always make more power.

This same cobra on race gas could easily advance timing to 23-26 degrees and make another 40 to 50 rwhp. Then you would have an apples to apples race. I guess we could put a 4 cylinder in it, run race gas, and about 45 psi and make 600 hp.. would that make you feel like it was anymore fair of a race. Even the ZR1's LSX engine is still .......

Ford tried, but for some reason they will only let you have 550hp in the shelby. So point is its desighn VS desighn, not big vs small or Import vs domestic. The car companies we have now all produce good vehicles or they would not have made it this far.
@csimvwtnt I see what your saying but these neons have zero technological advantage. That cobra has 4 cams And 4 valves per cylinder. The heads have the same hemispherical design as most high performance heads. The heads flow great and with 4 valves per cylinder, they can make great power. turbo 4 valve cobra's hit 700 rwhp on pump gas and hit 1000 on race gas. Thats all on the factory stock bottom end.

Also, neons, evo's and suby's are also capable of the same figures you stated for that 4v cobra, so you tell me, what do you think allows those smaller engines to make those numbers. Cube for cube, the 4bangers make alot more power. the mustang would have to make 1200 hp to be equal to a 600 hp neon. little guys doin somthin right.
@csimvwtnt there is no neon on this earth that will make 700 rwhp on pump gas. NEVER. It will take race gas to even come close. An evo could make 1000 on race gas at about 55 psi. Put a 4v cobra at 55 psi and it will make 1700-1800 hp. There is no magic fairy dust in these small engines. Cylinder head flow, cams, and cubic inches make horsepower. If they made a 4 cylinder that had huge pistons and stroke and was 300 cubic inches, it could make the same #'s as the cobra. Cubic inches=horsepower.
Your a fucking idiot and have no idea what volumetric efficiency is without googling it. Look at 2JZ engines for example, there is an insane amount of 2JZ engine with 3.0 Liters making MORE HP per PSI than Turbocharged V8's. The money it would cost to make a fucking LS1 into a thousand horsepower would be 408+ C.i. and a big ass blower, a 2jz doesn't need more than the 3.0 liters it's provided with.
@x42bnx you better read all my posts fuck stick. I know exactly what volumetric efficiency is and i also know that an 03 cobra has just about the same VE as a 2jz engine. When you couple that with the added displacement you get MORE HORSEPOWER. And yes all v8's are not created equal. Yes an old school stock v8 wont even come close to matching the power of the 2jz. But in a max effort situation cubic inches will always make more power whether it has 4 or 400 cylinders.
@x42bnx a turbo 2jz psi per psi will not equal a turbo 03's output. Single turbo cobras are routinely making 700 rwhp at about 18 psi on pure pumps gas. A 2jz will make that power but it will be at somewhere around 24-26 psi. This problem becomes worse when talking about even smaller displacement engines. It will takes these srt's 30 psi or more to match the power. I know they are lighter but the hp/lb ratio still isnt as good as the cobra.
@digiam42 26psi is a fair amount but you gotta remember there stock blocks with a built block and a 60trim they can really move i'd say they were making low to mid 400whp but with the mods i just said they could make welllll over 700whp
@nickv11763 700 hp is going to be a rare find for a neon. im sure there are a few out there but they are few and far in between. 700 on fwd neon is going to miserable and a maintainence nightmare and it will have to run on race gas to make that power. An 03 cobra with a turbo will make that same power on pump gas all day long. Move it up to race gas and its going to embarras that neon. All this can be done on the stock engine at that.

At 26 psi the cobra would be close to 800 rwhp. No neon at 26 psi ,regardless of the turbo size, can keep up with that kind of power. Now if your talking about both neons had 26 across the board. Then yes they would beat this cobra. But what will you have proved.. That you had to max out a 4 banger to run with a mild cobra.
@digiam42 Keep in mind that in 03 the srt4 was $15,000 less than the cobra and has half the cylinders, they're good street cars. And the mopar "stage 3" is a td05 that requires pcm controlled solenoids to bleed off boost during part throttle conditions just to prevent surge because of the small size of the turbo.

@timtat16 just because you have a supercharger doesnt mean you instantly have 600 horse to the wheels lol. I've beaten even 6.0 gto's in my stock turbo srt4. The gto in this video is definitely supercharged if it keeps up with a cammed upgraded wheel stage 3 srt4 on race gas.

@matthewrockslol22 i was just being an ass! ported just means the passage that the air flows through (be it the heads or in this case the supercharger) is carefully honed/altered so that the air can flow more freely. less turbulence means more air can be "blown" in faster which means bigger boom!
you know they are all nice cars but i think that cobra did pretty dam good on racing because seeing it only has exhaust work done an a ported blow at 16 psi. an a different clutch the srt 4 comes stock turbo an i do believe 6 speed cobra comes factory supercharged. line them up stock an see who wins!

@wilaxpro7 no, my car is currently stock and im starting my build. but what im saying in my first post is that imports really are not known for making 10 sec ET's all motor. it takes alot of money/work to do that. 9/10 times, sub 12 second imports are boosted... running like 20psi and more. Sure their fast cars but a V8 on 20psi is not going to have ANY trouble beating a worked up 4 or 6 cyl on the same amount of boost.

really? that's an 03 cobra (400+ hp stock) against a couple neons (~250 hp stock). 4.6L supercharged against 2.4L turbo? theres nothing little about that cobra compared to the neons. i'd have to say that from my point of view... the neons are boss even if they're a little slower than a TERMINATOR.

@Graffy5 Trust me. the cobra wasnt making 540 on a ported blower. There are only 2 ported blower cars that i know have made that kind of power and they had cams advanced timing and head work. A ported eaton cobra will hit 500 to 520 max. The blower cant push anymore air. its to small. take these 2 neons off race gas or let the cobra owner run race gas and its a completely diiferent race. Im not impressed with race gas 4 cyl cars running with anything. To me its not a street car if its on racegas

You must also consider the cost here... those neons cost a hell of a lot less to modify than that cobra cost to buy and modify. Those neons above are that fast purchased for $6000 + 3K in mods. For 8 grand you're pullin' on a $25,000 used cobra. For the same price .. cost for cost those neons would run 9s.

I mean its already upgraded and at 26 psi on race gas. Thats about as far as its going to go reliably. A ported eaton cobra is kinda and entry level 03 cobra today. With a 2.9 whipple or 2.8H kennebell they are laying down BIG numbers on pump gas and into the 800 rwhp range on race gas. All on the stock engine at that.

Uh, no.... There are tons of 500+ HP SRT-4s out there with over 150,000 miles on them all while getting 30 MPG... no reliability problems at all. In fact,.. most of those 500 hp srts are on stock internals. Hell, up until recently there was a 9 second SRT-4 being daily driven... he's now in the 8s and has since trailered the car.

@MrBadfish2 There may be some 500 hp neons running around but at 500 whp its going to be on race gas and an aftermarket turbo. Neons have cast cranks and mahle eutectic castings which means cast pistons. At 500 whp those pistons are not going to last 150,000 miles under those conditions. You may have 1 or 2 out there that get lucky but not at 500 whp. These neons in this vdeo are at probably 400 whp and that 26 psi and race gas. To get another 100 hp its going to take more boost and a built motr

@neonkid98 When any vehicle runs race gas it opens up everything for huge power numbers. Whether it be 4 or 8 cylinders. This same cobra on race gas could easily advance timing to 23-26 degrees and make another 40 to 50 rwhp. Then you would have an apples to apples race. I guess we could put a 4 cylinder in it, run race gas, and about 45 psi and make 600 hp.. would that make you feel like it was anymore fair of a race. Then youd have a 4 cyl cobra at 3800 lbs beating a neon

Even the ZR1's LSX engine is still .......

Ford tried, but for some reason they will only let you have 550hp in the shelby. So point is its desighn VS desighn, not big vs small or Import vs domestic. The car companies we have now all produce good vehicles or they would not have made it this far.

The heads have the same hemispherical design as most high performance heads. The heads flow great and with 4 valves per cylinder, they can make great power. turbo 4 valve cobra's hit 700 rwhp on pump gas and hit 1000 on race gas. Thats all on the factory stock bottom end.

@csimvwtnt there is no neon on this earth that will make 700 rwhp on pump gas. NEVER. It will take race gas to even come close. An evo could make 1000 on race gas at about 55 psi. Put a 4v cobra at 55 psi and it will make 1700-1800 hp. There is no magic fairy dust in these small engines. Cylinder head flow, cams, and cubic inches make horsepower. If they made a 4 cylinder that had huge pistons and stroke and was 300 cubic inches, it could make the same #'s as the cobra. Cubic inches=horsepower.

Look at 2JZ engines for example, there is an insane amount of 2JZ engine with 3.0 Liters making MORE HP per PSI than Turbocharged V8's. The money it would cost to make a fucking LS1 into a thousand horsepower would be 408+ C.i. and a big ass blower, a 2jz doesn't need more than the 3.0 liters it's provided with.

When you couple that with the added displacement you get MORE HORSEPOWER. And yes all v8's are not created equal. Yes an old school stock v8 wont even come close to matching the power of the 2jz. But in a max effort situation cubic inches will always make more power whether it has 4 or 400 cylinders.

@x42bnx a turbo 2jz psi per psi will not equal a turbo 03's output. Single turbo cobras are routinely making 700 rwhp at about 18 psi on pure pumps gas. A 2jz will make that power but it will be at somewhere around 24-26 psi. This problem becomes worse when talking about even smaller displacement engines. It will takes these srt's 30 psi or more to match the power. I know they are lighter but the hp/lb ratio still isnt as good as the cobra.

An 03 cobra with a turbo will make that same power on pump gas all day long. Move it up to race gas and its going to embarras that neon. All this can be done on the stock engine at that.

At 26 psi the cobra would be close to 800 rwhp. No neon at 26 psi ,regardless of the turbo size, can keep up with that kind of power. Now if your talking about both neons had 26 across the board. Then yes they would beat this cobra. But what will you have proved.. That you had to max out a 4 banger to run with a mild cobra.

And the mopar "stage 3" is a td05 that requires pcm controlled solenoids to bleed off boost during part throttle conditions just to prevent surge because of the small size of the turbo.

Does a DODGE Neon SRT4 qualify as rice? I mean the word ricer refers to the japanese brand of cars because Japanese people eat rice. Just because its a turbo 4 cylinder doesn't mean its rice. I remember a certain 2.3L tubo FORD motor that was a bit popular in the late 80s or early 90s.

a supercharged gto pushes 600 rwhp theres no way in fuck that its supercharged i know a kid with stage 4 neon and a stock gto and almost keeps up so idc haha not supercharged. gto is the most manly muscle car known to man

@timtat16 just because you have a supercharger doesnt mean you instantly have 600 horse to the wheels lol. I've beaten even 6.0 gto's in my stock turbo srt4. The gto in this video is definitely supercharged if it keeps up with a cammed upgraded wheel stage 3 srt4 on race gas.

man even a stock srt-4 has a crazy mid range pull to be a turbo 4 cyl. i cant imagin what this one is like. both cars are very fast which makes for a great video and lots of fun on the street.

@matthewrockslol22 i was just being an ass! ported just means the passage that the air flows through (be it the heads or in this case the supercharger) is carefully honed/altered so that the air can flow more freely. less turbulence means more air can be "blown" in faster which means bigger boom!

you know they are all nice cars but i think that cobra did pretty dam good on racing because seeing it only has exhaust work done an a ported blow at 16 psi. an a different clutch the srt 4 comes stock turbo an i do believe 6 speed cobra comes factory supercharged. line them up stock an see who wins!
