2001 Ford Ranger xlt - my first truck/vehicle

my 01 ranger is my 5th car. my dad has two of the last 4 and I still have the other 2 trucks.

I had a 2010 ford ranger as my first car/truck. And I didn't like it that much. Too small no power and coudent handle in snow for shit. Rwd makes it a pig in the snow, and ford f-150 has better MPG.

I bought a 96 ford ranger the day I turned 16 for 800 bucks. The day I turned 18 I went out and bought a brand new 2011 ranger sport :) amazing trucks

@AmericanMechanic yea a great price. its two wheel drive.. only thing is that it tends to shift late. the rpms get up to like 3500-4000 before it shifts, do you know anything about this?

@ryjack26 I can be that the kick-down cable needs to be adjusted. The kick-down cable is usually found on the throttle lever with the throttle cable.

I would recommend bringing it to a shop and not doing it yourself.

@ryjack26 The late shifts are programmed into the truck's engine computer to maximize fuel economy by staying in the optimal gear for longer.

if you have the 4.0L i would watch it because they had trouble with the over head cam and could have to put the enginge if its bad.

I also have a ranger for a ride and i got some good peices for that ranger if you are interested.like a front airdam and a sun visor for the cab without the lights on top.ill make a vid of it to show you sometime it is nice as hell.i bring to to car shows al the time and have shit load of trophies.nice ride.i have had mine for 14 yrs now and she is 17 yrs old.
