I just got a Pandigital white yesterday and everything works fine except the browser does not see the internet connection, it connects to both of my wireless connections, but won't go anywhere. any ideas? Ed
Hi. My wife purchased the "black" PDN from QVC. It's actually a 4gb version that QVC released later. There are so many versions of the PDN floating around it's not funny. I went to Slatedroid and learned that all of the black versions are inferior to the white, though the white ones aren't much better. There is almost zero mod support for the black PDN so she is stuck with a $200 crippled device. I just bought her an Enspert Identity and a G tablet for myself. Won't buy from Pandigital again.
@roythomasbaker - yeah, I had actually owned a BPDN, back in the early fall. The Android 1.5 OS is really the deal-breaker, imo. Mods are possible, but there are a ton of apps it cannot even run so most devs didn't bother with it. And now in 2011 it's even more dated than before.
I own a GTablet and it's a night and day difference in terms of performance.
@roebeet yeah, really looking forward to the gtab (just ordered - waiting on its arrival) and have heard so much about its modding potential. By the way, have followed your comments on Woot forum and XDA and really appreciate your contributions. Cheers!
@roebeet Thanks! I found a simple solution..downloaded skyfire 2.3(works on 1.6 and other versions also)plays flash with no issues. It works on PDN's also
The video rendering looks very good. Can you please tell me what player you are using on this one and what software and settings you used to convert it if you did. I'm still looking to get good playback ofr divx files on this unit, preferably without conversion. Any info would be great, thanks.
@barrycparsons : Video is standard MP4 container, and I used the excellent Handbrake application with an iPod Touch profile. That's really the only option you have with this device, or a real Cruz Reader for that matter.
Xvid AVI's have never worked on this device - even with Rockplayer, it's very choppy. 16:9 MP4's play back well, but that's about it.
@dirtbikefamily234 : Not on the latest revisions. The launcher and ereader / ADE apps had too many issues with the Cruz firmware, so I pulled them out.
But I did add back the PDN games/photo/music/video apps, as they still seem to work. This is only on the GE (Marketplace) version.
@ExtremeRyno -- yes, it can. With this UI update, the device has access to the Android Market. At the moment, it's a dirty hack to get the market working, but we're finishing up a cleaner version which is going to be posted this week on slatedroid.
The device has issues with 3D stuff, but for basic Android games it should be fine.
Geniuses...More like mostly you. I've been watching those threads like a hawk to decide what "slightly better than just an ereader" to pick up for my wife for Christmas.

@wilsonKyle41187 If you are referring to the soccer movie, the title is "Shaolin Soccer."

Hey, I have two PDN. I was wondering if can watch YouTube video on the PDN if I install Cruz reader firmware.
Cleverbrotha 1 year ago
@Cleverbrotha I believe the YouTube app works on the PDN, although there's no native Flash. Checkout Slatedroid for all the latest.
I actually returned my PDN last month - moved up to a Gtablet.

@margo33 Not sure - I haven't had a Cruz Reader many months, now (only had one for a week). I actually don't even have my Pandigital anymore. :(

@cjamesfox yeah, I've heard of some luck with RP, but I have never been able to replicate it. Could be the 7/24 firmware.

Do you still have the stock PDN homescreen and ereader, after this mod?

@stanbarley youtube is blocking all my reply attempts. Just go to the slatedroid site and go to the Pandigital forum area for details.
