just bought my own copy!!!!! cant wait til i have made somehting in it!!! i use a few other programs(HEXAGON,DAZ|STUDIO,Carrara6PRO,skinvue6,and PhotoShop)to do my 3D works with . . . all bought and paid for BABY!!!! thought this would make an interesting addition to my tools,VUE is on sale for $700,but if you go to their site you will find the fully functional personal learning editions(no trial period,but final renders are watermarked) cheers mates! happy renderings!

@MiloAmbrus Wow its one thing to pirate, but its another thing to bitch about the price!!!! It takes YEARS EVEN DECADES and millions of dollars to create these programs. People work so hard to make them, pirating happens, but bitching about the price is fucking ridiculous.

But what they don't tell you is that to render that 6 seconds of animation will take you 3 days of rendering on even the best workstation with multiple CPUs and tons of RAM. It's really designed for movie companies who have the $ to use multiple servers to just render scenes. But the results are impressive.

Are you sure it takes that long on a 6 seconds animation?otherwise that CRAZY and probably not worth it

just do the math. Create ONE image with detail you see in any of these animations. Render that at high quality at say 640 x 480. I'm talking a PC with 2.5 GHz CPU and 2 gig of ram. Standard PC. If that takes 20 minutes, then 6 seconds at 30 fps is 180 frames. 180 times 20 minutes = 60 hours. Unless I had a modern PC w/4 gig of ram and 2 CPUs for parallel processing, I can forget animation. One image is fine.

So, I did lie in my last post. hehehe on new workstations it would not take 3 days. probably more like... 15 hours or so. All depends on the scene and PC power. The demo has me drooling for a faster computer. I have a 6 year old one. :( Not that I could do these scenes but I can dream. hehe

render does take a lot of time. i have an amd athlon quadcore 4 gig ram machine and it took forever to render 6 seconds of clouds fly through animation...

nevertheless a great application..

shift to intel....and wait for vue 8 they will include in the next version of it that will benefit from multi core system....u should wait for intel i7 to be cheap....maybe you have a wrong render settings that's why it does not progress...try first using final before ultra settings...sometimes you cannot notice much difference

We have i7 now, with 12 gig ram, havent tried vue on this one, hopefully vue should fly on this comp.

seems like vue 7 cannot utilize for now having multiple processors. It's kinda dependent on RAM...but wait for vue 8 maybe they will fix it... Carrara is very fast when it comes to render but very 3dsmaxish type of UI (but a little bit easier with little support /community and scattered tutorial)...12 GB RAM is too much 8 is enough you should do rendercow render like one i7 and 4 core 2 quads (4 gig each) sure you can render 30 min animation just in a min or two

dude it really isnt all that complicated, all it is is an image with added depth and a bunch of settings added by a program. you dont need a ton of space and a shitload of ram to get fine work out of it. Hell! i only have a 1/2 a terabite capacity and havent even used up 10 gigs by it!!
