no. he said that -- Hanamizu. western part of Hiratsuka city, where Hanamizugawa (花水川）　enters the ocean. If you go there, be careful -- it is not Kugenuma, it gets deep quickly when you enter the water and waves are very different from Kugenuma -- stronger, the water is less predictable.

Like all japanese surfers, they surfing like crap!!!!! i live in japan for the past eight years and i haven't seen a goog wave, ahh i live in the shonan area by the way. AHH and i started to surf in Peru you know, Mancora, Cerro Azul (the one of the Beach Boys song) so i know what i talking about.

Hey! So, how was Minami-Izu this last weekend? Monday was pretty sloppy, chest/shoulder sized waves, but sloppy and on-shore...however, it was a BEAUTIFUL day, few people and lots of fun (and sun). Wish you could have been there. Maybe we can synchronize a day off for some Minami-Izu/Ericsurf6 vids!

Actually, yes...I live in Yamanakako where my wife and I run a Pension. We've got customers this weekend, but plan to go to Minami-Izu early Monday morning. We should definitely hook up for some surfing at some point!

I took surfing lessons yesterday when I was in Waikiki. It's so difficult! I was very discouraged. Is boogie boarding easier?

Aloha Maneneko! I lived in Waikiki for 5 years and taught surfing. Yes, boogie boarding is easier than surfing cause you don't need to stand up and balance, rather just ride the wave.

But a good teacher is the best! Did you take a lesson, or just rent a board? It's expensive, but I recommend you take a lesson there in Waikiki or do an outrigger canoe ride on the waves (only about 15 dollars).

I took 1 lesson in Waikiki, but I'm a horrible paddler, I quickly discovered! I'll try some lessons out here before I give up, though. Or take up boogie board instead.
