okay... Maybe not quite an ALTO sound... But yeah, I would never try altissimo on a ballad like that, only Nick could pull something like that off... Anyone know what reeds he uses? Especially hardness
not sure about the reeds.. but it sounds like a fairly soft tip (fuzziness and quick response) with a solid heart (awesome intonation and full sound) I know that he used a Strathon Adjustatone mouthpiece. It has an adjustable baffle, usually up high.. that gives him such an effortless altissimo respose! Very tough to get on a bari without a very narrow chamber and high baffle!! Those mouthpieces are amazing, but very hard to find!

Same one i do, its a Strathon Ajusta tone. i picked mine up a 2 years ago but i haven't seen many since.
