  • Very enjoyable...thanks

  • Im just now learning this tune. Very nice to use as starting point.

  • Brignola appeared at my college in 1980 and conducted a number of workshops.

Warm, cordial, humorous and a fine Jazz musician.

  • バリトンで奏でる、My Foolish Heart ~重鎮ニック・ブリグノラ~野太くも優しい咆哮 #jazzm

  • Man that drummerless CD About Time with Holland/bass and Barron/piano is truly the shit. This great great master was a hell of a claranetist as well .

  • Why couldn't you have less talent, Mr. Brignola? I Have to learn and be able to play this for my Jazz band at school! I've only been playing the bari for about a year and a half and i'm expected to play this already! What will I do next?

  • Swingin monster-the lick/motif at the end

    just sums it all up!

  • this was a great video but I seem to like George Colemans version better

  • Growing up next door, always over his house as a teen, hanging out with his kids, now an adult appreciate his music more and more, what talent he had, what a great guy he was..I always feel so proud and honored to have know him. When I read about him and his music and all he inspired makes me stand tall and say, "Wow, that's Mr. Brignola there talking about!" I can tell you he was truly a great guy, Mr. Brignola rest in peace, you will always be remembered and honored...moe s.

  • Nick rest in peace...

  • He was the best!

  • okay... Maybe not quite an ALTO sound... But yeah, I would never try altissimo on a ballad like that, only Nick could pull something like that off... Anyone know what reeds he uses? Especially hardness

  • not sure about the reeds.. but it sounds like a fairly soft tip (fuzziness and quick response) with a solid heart (awesome intonation and full sound) I know that he used a Strathon Adjustatone mouthpiece. It has an adjustable baffle, usually up high.. that gives him such an effortless altissimo respose! Very tough to get on a bari without a very narrow chamber and high baffle!! Those mouthpieces are amazing, but very hard to find!

  • exceptional bravisimo

  • Wow! that beginning sounded like an Alto Sax!

  • WOW ! GREAT ! AMAZING ! I could listen to Nick forever! Best I ever heard !

  • Thanks calism 23,what a beautifull video of Mr.Brignola! He was also such a gentlman!

    He is greatly missed!

    What a bariman he was!

From another bariguy to a Giant,we love you Mr.Brignola!

    All the best,

    Mario

  • FRESH just like he said!Beautiful improvising.Cool to see&hear Montalbano in his earlier days. Diggin this.

  • Beautifull! thanks a lot for this great video!

  • No one plays the bari like Nick did; his ballad playing on bari is just killing. Tears every time I hear him. Thanks for that great video.

  • I think his horn is a Keilwerth that now belongs to Gary Smulyan!

  • That just might be teh best tone I've ever heard on any bari sax ever. This guy is amazing.

  • what Bari Sax brand and mouthpiece is he using?

  • Same one i do, its a Strathon Ajusta tone. i picked mine up a 2 years ago but i haven't seen many since.
