Hey Ziegfeldgirl! Just wanted to say that this is one of my favs of yours. Nice job! Also, I am a subscriber of your channel but I don't see that I show up as such on your channel page anymore. However, it shows up on my page. So - I'm going to unsubscribe and then subscribe again right away. (Didn't want you to think I was unsubscribing!) :)
As a member of her captive audience from 1963, I think I can sum up the effect of this woman and this astounding career. It was not unusual to hear anyone from my generation say throughout the decades, "I heard this beautiful song on the radio the other day and I really hope Barbra Streisand will record it". Her generation desired her to sing absolutely everything she could. And that says it all.
I envy you, experiencing Barbra thoughout (almost) her whole career. I am a teen, and I adore Barbra, she is so amazing and talented. I wish I could have seen her perform 'Right as rain' at the Bon Soir, or 'Music that makes me dance' in Funny Girl. Barbra will always be the Greatest Star.
One of the better things about being my age is, I got to witness the meteoric rise of Barbra. I have friends who remember her from The Lion. Friends who saw her at Central Park and I myself, was 10 rows from the stage at Madison Square Garden in 1994.
That must have been spectacular. I would have given anything to see her at the Lion or at Central Park. Luckily I have that special of hers, along with many other albums and movies.
To see her dip from behind the curtain at Madison Square Garden was the dream of my lifetime come true. I was in tears. By the end of the show I was hoarse and I had broken blood vessels in my hands from all the screaming and clapping I did. Now I am one of the 30 million in a week's time who is screaming my lungs out over Susan Boyle.
So I was looking at Barbra stuff and go figure I find you.
