I disagree with you... cause apart from general behaving, win7 performs beter than XP ( in my case) and also in games seems to run better and smoother.
I hear that the UI is very fast compared to Vista.
This is good however it is worth noting that benchmarks for actual processing is virtually the same. That is a process in Vista will take as long to complete as in Vista for most cases.
So games will not benefit however lite weight tasks like word processing will have a nice polish to them.
TOP COMPARING MAC TO PC...ESPECIALLY A BETA BUILT OS to FINISHED OSX.
fist off...OSX isnt better. its different...its also incompatible with many games and programs.
while windows if buggy at times and less "secure" it seems to be the preferred choice of businesses households and the industry. that in itself says something.
another reason why i hate mac is because it has to compare itself to windows to make a point...look at WINDOWS commercials.they dont ever mention OSX ...ask youself why?
Ok. I'm done arguing over this dumb subject. PC vs. Mac debates never end well.
Have you seen any videos about Windows 7? You have to admit, it looks pretty good. It looks better than Vista (w/ SP1) and that is still really good (I use Vista Premium SP1).
Honestly, dude, you can't even run Java, Ruby, or any programming language for that matter out of the box. Hell, you can't even view PDFs without hitting the net first, and don't even get me started on UAC, the command prompt(althought powershell is on the way) explorer's stability, and a crap default web browser, IE. And BTW # means root (now I just # for Mac OS). Let me know when explorer decides to stop crashing on you...don't you have a batch file to go write?
Mac is essentially a Linux system but without the advantage of being free. Did you know that Mac bought the copyright to CUPS? Because it supports thousands of printers while the mac printing options were drying up? How is it that a system which has about 2% (it's definitely higher now but whatever) of the market share able to compete? I'd say it's because we value our freedom.

Wow, this is a poorly executed rip of the Dock in Mac OS X come one microsoft, i used to root for you guys...now i just # for mac os (real computer users will get that one)
So I guess "real" computer users (according to you) can't play more than about 3 games on their computer (thanks to Apple's comical support for games), don't overclock their computers, are incredibly limited when it comes to upgrading hardware, and would rather pray to Steve Jobs than to God Himself.

Apple's target audience consists of those that have trouble closing a webpage. 80% of its users can't figure out how to turn the computer on/off... I don't want to be associated with that group in any way. Macs are lacking greatly in features, support, third-party applications, and customization.
If you really can't open a webpage and download Java, Ruby, C#, C++, PDF's and other programs, then you should not own a computer... period.
Wow, what a way to dodge the IE comment, i guess having multiple system breaches is computing? I'm not saying OS X is impenetrable, but hey, it's not neatly the Swiss cheese fest that is the Windows family of operating systems. Please, I ask you not to look at the crowd associated with a product, but it's capabilities. You obviously haven't spent time using a Macintosh. Me, being a computer enthusiast and A+ certified technician have had enough of Windows. I'm extremely disappointed in Microsoft
I, too, am a computer enthusiast. I'm not a pro like you (I'm too young). I built the computer I'm using right now. There wasn't room to mention IE... yeah, I agree, it fails miserably. I use Firefox.
I used a Mac for 2 years before I switched. I couldn't stand the functionality at all, it was terrible. The thing froze every day at least once, I was kicked off my connection more times than I can count, Quicktime was always trying to take over, etc.
I have been using this Pre-Beta build and i must say...I LOVE IT! This is odd coming from me because i'm a strong XP supporter. But i'm loving this whole system. And i must say, for a beta, this is EXTREMELY stable
So far im liking their distro, they are planning on offering additional software thru live. Such as office, etc. The dvd is only 2.7gb. Installed its about 10gb. Better than vista...

I would say its because of Apple's saturation in other markets, particularly in the MP3 playing area.
