  • Wow, what is America to do once we lose all this knowledgeable talent? I fear that once guys like you are gone we are screwed.

  • At 1:46 how did you center the mill with the valve guide?

  • @ilivensoca - The workhead floats on air and it is moved into position and then clamped in place.

  • you totally helped me fix some valve issues last week bro. i seriously appreciate the work you do and thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge with the web!

  • Belt sander? Oh no....

  • how much does it cost to rebiuld your cylinder heads

  • I am a olds lover too,This really brings back memories. Nice work ! My 324 olds engine is on u-tube under landers engineering. Thanks,Eddie

  • nice job , more vid. pls

  • Awesome Video!

  • Hi John,

What kind of a bill would you give this customer for all this work? Also, why did you not put hardened seats in it? I have a hard time selling work (time) the customers just go out and buy heads complete. I end up doing this stuff just for myself. In this case, your customer cannot buy aftermarkets.

  • do you think i could resurface a cylinder head with a belt sander? i would be very careful of course. my head is pretty flat, i just has some hardened goo like stuff on it and i need to get it off without damaging the head, its on a ford 400 M engine. and i dont have much money to have someone else do stuff to it.

  • @dnl5649 - The head will be just as warped if you use a belt sander, it need to be milled.

  • @fiatnutz mine isn't really warped, it just has a bunch of old gasket gunk and crap on it. the purpose of the sander would be mainly to clean that stuff off because i dont want to scrape it off and scratch my head, then it would really need resurfacing

  • ive done similar things with my sioux tools bench

  • Oh, and where you show the RA number written on the head that grove is an oil passage and milling the head will make it so it doesn't flow enough oil anymore. I've seen where the machinest will use a die grinder and open it back up. maybe that's something you don't show :)

  • I had all this done to a Jeep version of the 151 Pontiac. It had 1.78 int and 1.5 ex. it now has Manley Pro Flo SBC valves. 1.94 int and 1.6 exaust. port match and pocket ported to blend the bigger valve opening. With flat top Keith Black Hypereutectic pistons and a 42 cc combustion chamber the compression ratio is 12.5 to 1. good thing I can get Trick racing gas from a pump for when I race. :/

  • bravo
