  • Easy swap night day difference is go from 152 to 196

  • To put in v8 in an 80. Is not the same as 800. U would have to modify firewall

  • wow, that is clean! is that a restoration or has your dad had it locked away for 40 years! beautiful.

  • @757WN it's a restoration, this video is kinda nostalgic though because the first owner hunted on this same ranch, my dad hunted with him for years. haven't driven the scout in about 6 months though :( it's been kinda a pain with the clutch and carburetor, but plan on tinkering with it soon, besides that it's great

  • It goes slow but it sure is pretty!

  • is it a 6 volt or 12 ?

  • @maycunbe it's a 12v, with a generator, not an alternator, which i had rebuilt about a year ago, old ACdelco unit,

  • I am pretty sure that you could put the 304 in it I dont see why not they put the 304s in them in 1970 and didnt change anything so I believe it woudnt be that hard but if I were you I would keep that beautiful thing completely original and buy a 1970 that hs the 304 lol

  • very nice truck

  • range rovers are to top heavy to be a real suv (like a van)JEEP WILLYs done it first

  • someone said that this started the suv craze i believe that the real suv craze starter would be the range rover considering that this doesnt really

    very sport utility to me

  • I wish I had a nice stock looking 80/800 like that.

My 80 is a rusty pos.

  • i wish they still made international pickups and stationwagons and the ol scout!!

  • 304 ih is an ih motor, the inline 6 was made by amc

  • the 6's werent made by international??

  • Great to see an early model SCOUT still in good condition.

The original Scout started the whole SUV craze!

    Regards from OzzInter in Australia

  • Slant 4 engine?

  • I love it, the Scout was the best 4x4 ever made. Yeah it's got a 4 cyl, 8x56. I have a '67 but the 4cyl was locked up so I put a 3.8 V6 out of an '81 Camaro in it.

  • They ran the slant 4, the 345V8 and the straight 6. The wost problem I had working on them was parts issues. Production changes almost made it manditory on some models to have a line setting ticket from I.H. to get the parts correct.

  • The 345 wasn't available in the Scout until '70. You're right though, getting parts is a bitch. Especially with mine being a mail truck (right side drive).

  • yes, 152ci

i would like to put the 304 in it someday, but it's all original right now, anybody ever put a 304 in there? or even a 6clinder? i want something more dependable, seeing the holley carbs are CRAP

  • I forgot about the 304. That was an A.M. engine wasn't it? Never had too many problems with the Holly carbs. MotorCraft yes but the real bitch were the Carters on the Mopar slant 6 from '74 on. Those who could cure the hesitation problems took an oath of silence.

  • putting an IH v8 in a 61\62 is a PITA. they dont fit. smallblock chevy fits but i would rather stick with the 152 in mine. with a 304 or 345, you have to cut into the inside fenders, firewall, and move the rad. twards the front of the truck so the fan wont hit it. stick with the 4cyl.

  • Ive redone my scout and redid the whole 304 engine on er and it runs beautifully

  • I swapped the carb on my 304 to fuel injection, you can do the same to your 152 but you'll have to make adapters.

  • @cratgo if your gunna put any motor in there put a 345, its the better choice and very strong.

  • one of the best off road vehicles ever made........

  • This truck was inspiration for first Ford Bronco

  • Cool car

  • NICE!! I got 1962 Scout 80 and I envy you having a nice runner. I have some work on mine and want to do that!

  • what a beautiful IH truck, looks perfect, and good to see it being wheeled.
