When I took this train from Nanjing, they held the embarking passengers in the station until the disembarking passengers had left the platform. That made it much more orderly than what you see here, although it is a bit of a rush to get on. Or had all those waiting passengers disobeyed the signs?
@asianlaw I failed to mention my trip was in July, 2010. So they must have added the more restrictive procedure after your trip, either permanently or due to the high passenger volume during Expo.

I think passengers and station personnels got used to CRH's short stopping time (usually 2-4 minutes).
