  • Any idea where we can find the materials used in the video in Canada? Many thanks.

  • @rocboy2006 I used to live in Canada. If I still did, I'd look in Canadian Tire for these products.

  • co za gówno , lepiej wymienic błotnik

  • am a plasterer this looks soo easy to do!!

  • Note to people who have no common sense: This method is used to repair SMALL rust spots. This does NOT solve the problem completely and if rust affects an important structural area on a monocoque body, this repair will not give it it's strenght back.

If the floors, quarter panels, pillars, frame rails, rockers etc... are affected, covering it up will only make it worse. Spending more time and money by cutting the affected area and welding new metal in place is the ONLY real solution.

  • fix for max 6 months.

  • @dleksi

yes, rust holes are better to fix with the welding method

  • @TheCanadian951 i use 400grit

  • @TheCanadian951

    180 is what I use.

  • what about body filler sealer?????????????????

  • Great video, simple and to the point. These tips will come in handy tomorrow =)

  • Can you tell me what tool you used for scraping the rust off? What number sandpaper do you use for wet-sanding? Thank you in advance!

  • rust is the vehicles cancer!!!

  • Perfect - exactly what I needed! Thank you, you have just saved me $300.

  • le Butchear

  • yeah without proper rust removal and zinc primers , that "fixed" area is rusted again in no time:)

  • The only thing I'd add is that you should consider using something like POR-15 after you sand the rust as much as you can, and before using bondo, otherwise, I suspect the rust will come back rather quickly

  • @rockman12367, Bondo will certainly work here, but you need to clear all the rust, and I would use a rust-preventative before painting. The repair they show is almost ideal for Bondo. In reality, you'll have to do multiple coats of bondo with sanding in between to get a nice shape. Of course, if the hole is too large and would require too much bondo, you almost have to consider cutting out the rust and either welding or riveting new metal into place.

  • Phosphoric acid.

  • How much would this cost total?

  • to get the right color paint, look under the hood, or in the door jam, just look around. your exact paint code will be in the vehicle somewhere. possibly where the VIN# is

  • my car body's biggest enemy is a dumb-ass in a parking lot....

  • I wouldnt put any filler directly over the holes unless the cancer holes were chemically neutralized and treated with a Zinc rich primer. if the slightest spec of cancer were in one of those cavities, eventually it would rust up again and push the body filler right off the metal. Body filler does NOT have the adhesion capabilities of a good self etching primer, and no rust protection properties whatsoever. I know this well....from years and years of failure!!!! lol

  • How do you get a good color match? Is there a special kind of paint I should get? I have some rust like this on a black jeep I wanna take care of, but I'm afraid the paint won't match well

  • -Cars nowadays are so bad that there's not even time for then to rust, they go to the junkyard before rusting.

  • @peter455sd well most cars these days, their bodies are mode from fiber glass, so they dont really rust.

  • Never use fingertips to sand leaves an uneven surface but good vid

  • I still rather sheet metal, but this is a nice fast quick fix that I always do too!

  • only a matter of months before the rust comes back

  • @alexpoz09 not if you get your vehicle rust proofed at places like Corrosion Free, where I work. we have cars that have been coming to us since the early ninties, every 18 months and they have zero rust. But i live in canada so maybe americans don't have many of these establishments??

  • This is horrible the rust needs to be cut out and then cut a new piece to fit and weld it in or else the old rust will come back

  • the rust comes becous it toucher water and air is it only is in contact with air does it rust. i mean like is the air sometimes for full of h20 that steel may rust if its only in air no water

  • @prankmakers95 what

  • Wow I hate my internet, having such a hard time loading this video, god I hate sling shot...

  • So, this would work on Surface rust strut towers for 1995-1999 Eclipse's.

  • Use POR-15 and that shit is gone for good.

  • this is what I where looking for !!!! Thanks you !

  • that was everrrrr so helpful!

  • i wonder where i can find those card board he has the black ones seen good to work with this kind of job

  • your supposed to spray rust converter before putting body filler, he also forgot to clean and wire brush behind the wheel arch.... pretty lame vid...after a year or so rust will come through the body filler.

  • how long is this guarantied for till the rust comes back?

  • depends if you clean the rust very well, it wont come back for very long time.

  • red tailed hawk. Huh how is it supposed to stick

  • what if i cannot get behind the rusted area?

  • @50N1C800M skip that

  • @50N1C800M well just push it through the front. its just easier to make it look better from pushing it through the back and sanding it off i assume.

  • @50N1C800M take your car apart with a jack hammer its okay you can fix it all with some fibre glass some body filler and some paint :D

  • @50N1C800M weld.

  • @50N1C800M then just try to fill up the wholes with body filler, but only if its a small whole

  • @50N1C800M

    Call Mc. Gyver :)

  • don't put body filler over bare metal!!!

  • why? whats the problem with it?

  • @aws0mn3ss Body filler over bare metal doesn't protect the metal from rusting again.

  • @yTubeBlowsBigBalls so i would lay down a small coat of primer before the filler... btw i have always put the filler over bare metal on my old vehicle restorations.

  • why?

  • that will last about 6 months. you really need to cut the rust out before you apply fiberglass/ filler .

  • damn everything i needed to know

    ty

  • gr8 stuff,,it looked like new (the desired effect),,,

    Q. is there any chance of telling the car has been filled this way in the past,,,say if i buy a car off some one,,,,ty

  • Yes there is ...just wrap a little magnet in some cloth or something,,, and put it on the part you wish to check. if its metal it will stay,,if its filled it will not hold.

the cloth is for not scratching the paint.

  • run a magnet over the body, if the magnet doesnt stick theres bondo/ body filler in that area

  • that is some accurate spreading right there.

  • This is a damn good video. I needed this. Thanks.

  • Thanks for the cool Haynes Pen, Tire pressure gauge and the $20 for filling out the survey.

  • Thanks - does your book come in CD medium. I am about to start restoring a 1980 audi.

  • Thanks this was a good base tutorial. I lack that guys skill =)

  • oh god thanks need to fix up my 91 ford crown vic it has surface rust around the side marker lights and on the bottom of the rocker panels and a spot on the left quarter panel.

  • that easy ??

  • Nice one

  • This is the best and simplest rust repair video on here. All the others are super old & obsolete or too complicated & requiring special tools. I can do this! Thanks!

  • @Frisby0.........are you being serious? This video is seriously lacking information! its a shit video!

If people do the very simple and few steps mentioned on this video, you will fuck your car up!

  • @Frisby0 I like it because it's simple and the video quality is actually viewable unlike the home made videos that make up all the other rust videos
