i stumbled on this video when i was still i high school. (long time ago). i actually cried the first time that i saw it, and still get a bit emotional when i see this. tbh, i have watched many anime music vids, but this song together with the choice of clips from eva was beautiful. it is about as accurate to the anime as i think one can get. thank you for the vison and care you placed into making this piece of art.

Hey guys. I made this video a long, long time ago, and am very glad to see all of you love it. I made it with a vision of using Shinji, Asuka, and Kaworu to be considered as 3 personalities in someone's head. Shinji was representing conciousness, Asuka was the protector from reality, and Kaworu was attempting to lure Shinji into breaking free. Knowing all that, feel free to re-watch and see if it's any different. :)

I've seen so many AMVs in my life, and I can assure without doutb that this is the BEST of it (I made a ranking, and half of them were Evangelion..... this is really an inspirating anime).
this was made a long ass time ago. i bileve around 2004. (probbly earlyier) becaus when i had WinMX (old download program) they had it on there. i went to the website even back then and there was nothing on it. wish i knew who made it.
not relating to the 2 being displayed, but with them destroying all the angels is basicly killing God's high end angels and it seems to me that its the attempt to either show God that they dont need him anymore or to kill him entirely. basicly this series is the book of revolution but we (the demons according to the series) win the battle. atleast thats my POV on this series...

A really good AMV emphases one or a few themes of a show by playing scenes important to the themes alongside music that emotionally matches the theme or at least the producers interpretation of it. If the song has lyrics those hopefully can be interpreted as an expression of the particular theme as well.

You could describe the choking scene as a dream.. also as an alternate reality.. also as a thought of something that was wished to happen or should have happened. As for Asuka's hidden love for Shinji.. they have a love/hate relationship for each other. Both of them have reasons they're afraid to become too close to other people (hedgehog's dilemma as they call it). They help each other deal with this while also taking it out on each other.
Asuka was trying to get Shinji's attention for much of the show but in the end she feels rejected as Shinji fails to show any compassion towards her. For example in episode 22 she says something like "he didnt even hold me" which is a reference to a kissing scene with her and shinji in an earlier episode. In that scene she runs away after the kiss to supposedly wash out her mouth, but it is later revealed that she ran because she was crying as shinji didn't react to the kiss as she hoped.
very good point on that. i really haven't had a chance to watch the entire series as i seen it at the very late end of it on adult swims program schedule. i plan on getting every episode on DVD as soon as i possibly can to see it all. i hope they get done with production for Rebuild of Evangelion soon. as for the choking, he stops as soon as she touches his face because it reminded him of his mom as another member has told me. personally, Shinji and Asuka would make a great couple.
I dont think the choking scene is a dream. It is the real world after the human instrumentality project in which only Shinji and Asuka are alive. Other people have the ability to come back alive if they have the will for it. But yeah...there are several interpretations.
Really now? Your daughter must be pretty young if your going to ground her for watching something like this. Although I don't see why. This anime is not very graphic in the human anatomy. But I will admit that it imply certain things if you notice.
you know, in all of my years there has never been a show quite like this. I loved it so much that i got in depth with it and I've never seen things so disturbing, so depressing or irritating, or even scary. the scene you are referring to is completely benign. It is probably the blood pouring from the angel (the black round one that Eva-01 emerges from) or the fight between Asuka and the MP Eva.
@Entelarmer well it probberbly have to do with the fact that there is alot of blood & severel scenes where you see Shinji Strangle Asuka. Yeah watched the video some years ago was very nice back then still is now, recently re-watched the series, and I gotta say the orignal jap with english subtitles is still the best way to get the full experience, many people have explained the anime to be "a serious mind-fuck" I would have to agree if you are less 15 years old it envolves alot of adult insight

shinji is the main character so the guy (anno or whats his name) who did it also identifies with him (he identifies shinji) so if you can feel some the things that shinji has to feel (painful) you are just a lttlebit depressed maybe like me who also did and so on (being depressed means you're sane, this world is cruel)
It is things like this that remind me why Neon Genesis is my second favorite anime of all time! ( I mean that in a completely complimentary manner, I regret not being able to type tone. it's beauty only affects me slightly less than Ghost in the Shell)

I don't usually like gothic music, which most people would classify this as, but I just love songs with a story/message. This song has that and I love it. It's certainly a lot better than all the music you hear on MTV/the radio teaching kids that whoring themselves out will make boys like them (rap), or that when life gets hard crying and suicide is the answer (emo).
Evangelion was a great anime as well. It kinda fits the mood of the song. Great AMV! Arigato!

Most AMVs are doomed as soon as they start emphasizing scenes that have no emotional power behind the, usually a really cool fight scene.
Simularly AMVs need to shift images when the music changes quickly to keep the two messages in-sync.
The use of AMVs is there ability to provide thoughtful and emotionally powerful introspection on a show.
This AMV is all about Shingi and Asuka's treturous relationship and in addition it pulls everything else here off briliantly.

I wouldn't call it "bathing". It's common use to commit suicide by slicing up your wrists when you lay in warm water - it keeps the blood flowing.

Don't worry,your English is a lot better than some of the people who post on YouTube and are theoretically fluent in it. "Frases" was your only real mistake, it's spelled "Phrases"
Oh...and the AMV's great. I really liked NGE (mindscrews aside) and Nightwish is pretty good.

The song is by Nightwish, by the title "Dead Boy's Poem."
They're an amazing Symphonic Metal band from Finland. I personally own their High Hopes CD, which has some of their best songs.

(And I don't quite understand why he chokes her ... but I don't quite understand many things from the last movie. I guess it's a movie you cannot understand just interpret for yourself ... but "Dead Boys Poem" helped me a little bit *g*)

I don't usually like gothic music, which most people would classify this as, but I just love songs with a story/message. This song has that and I love it. It's certainly a lot better than all the music you hear on MTV/the radio teaching kids that whoring themselves out will make boys like them (rap), or that when life gets hard crying and suicide is the answer (emo).
Evangelion was a great anime as well. It kinda fits the mood of the song. Great AMV! Arigato!
