A Saab ones saved my life... I was driving my old 95 -98 when I was pushed of the road by a Mercedes van that was trying to pass another car and didnt see me in the left lane. Speed was about 80 mph, when I flew into the bushes, car flipped over four times and landed on the side. I climbed out, completely unharmed. Even though the car was totalled, the basic shape and integrity of the body was intact and I was kept safe...
A few days after this happened, an engineer from Saab called me and interwieved me about the accident in order to gather information in order to make their cars even safer. Apperently thats something that they allways do, for each and very accident. Thats car building passion...
When the new 9-5 materialized (or morphed from the old 92/96 they were showing before) it looked like old school graphics straight outta TRON. Subliminal messages to snag the hipsters!
I like it! What I don't like is the voice of the commentator! He make's it sound like a Jaguar commercial! Saab's have always been different and for different people they are. I think, instead of promoting just performance, Saab should on past to- to present- to future. But not just in performance also in safety and technology. Ex. Imagine Saabs time line and include all the safety features it's pioneered though it's years. The first three point seatbelt, it's fall back seats and head restrain
Anyone who buys a SAAB is completely out of their fucking mind... The customer service and warranty support is beyond horrible... It's basically non existent... If it wasn't illegal I would roll my 2009 9-3 convertible off a cliff and collect the insurance.
@ianmma So... my Viggen is off Warranty do i care ... no ... and under GM Power they went to shit! the last almost true generation of Saab is when the last 9-3 and 9-5 with the last of Saabs own engines and own suspension as well as little touches here and there. If u dont like your Saab fine trade it in and enjoy a boring everyday Audi or BMW. I like my Saab for its Difference and what it is as a car. u have to give the Company time back up on its feet its hard when u have just been cut off
@ianmma The sad thing for you you bought a Saab just before the whole gm thing went down the toilet and the general message was saab as a very small gm brand will be put down. Things are still not perfect when it comes to service , especially in the USA, but the new owners are working hard on building up the service again and im sure you pretty soon will not feel like committing a crime
There are 2 GM at .12 there is either an OG9-3 or NG 900 in profile driving in the country side and as previously noted, OG 9-3 convertible. My wife and I have owned both non GM & GM era SAABS- yes the OG 900s looked fantastic, but the new products have modern safety features and reliability. I would not swap our 2009 9-3 Vector for an OG 900- and I have owned an 1993 OG 900 Convert, 1997 9000CS & OG 9-3. Currently own 9-3 Vector, 2000 9-5 AERO & 9-5 Estate & 1998 9-3 Convert FANTASTIC ADD
Saab owners enjoy a uniquely intimate relationship with their beloved company. Beyond mere product loyalty, it is the sort of affection most brands can only dream of, as if each and every customer feels personally vested with the success of the organization. It’s what compelled thousands of Saab drivers worldwide to protest GM’s dreadful stewardship of the company. And to it Saab owes its very existence today.
@ianmma Um, I haven't noticed any change in the speed or quality of service at my Saab dealer since independence from GM. Sorry if you've had some isolated personal problem, but your anecdote doesn't reflect the general state of Saab service worldwide.
Film contents: Featuring J 21 Fighter aircraft 92 Prototype 96 2 stroker Sedan 96 Rally V4´s a few of them 9000 in windtunnel (with the smoke-stick developed by a guy at my work, Göran Lorinder) 99 Turbo Sedan Rally 99 Turbo CombiCoupe (Frankfurt car show 1976, crashed by a polish journo and later rebuilt) SK 60 SAAB jet trainer Saab Formula Junior Sonett 1
The 9-3 rocks, and was produced under GM as the new 9-5 was largely developed with GM, and is a very nice car, GM makes the ZR1, the Z06, the CTS-V, and had a hand in the legendary LOTUS CARLTON!!!!!, some of the most kickass sports cars and super sedans in the world, soooooo
@raising1987 So? they have some the worst engines ever 2.4 quad I4 and the head/intake gasket blowing 3.1 and 3.4 V6 thanks to dex-cool! The 900-9-3 and 9-5 are good cuz of the fact they only use a Opel/Vauxhall floor pan. Everything else is Saab engine, transmission, suspension, body and electrics. GM can say what they want there cars are over priced low quality built cars cuz of junk workmanship and Mattel plastics Should have just went bankrupt Long live Saab it was better off WITH OUT GM!
@localfuckingized um.. negative... the Turbo gauge (:10) found in the 2008 and newer dashes. The quick spot of the two ladies driving the convertible (:15) is from a GM era commercial.. "the all new 9-5"
developed under GM..... sorry... still have to swallow that huge pill for a few more years.
@jjmk98k yea the original boost gauge was the blue/green, yellow and red i love my 01 viggen for that gauge :) i dont care for the look of the new one
@localfuckingized Actually, not true. The Saab 9-3 Convertible can be seen as the vehicle the two ladies with their hair blowing in the wind. It also features the Saab Aero X concept, which is the clear-glass vehicle with electric infometrics. Also, the convertible lift top is a Saab 9-3 Convertible, only a much newer model than the one with the ladies. Spyker played absolutely no role in the design or planning of the new 9-5. GM's spirit lives on, which is not necessarily a bad thing, either.

@keds4u If you go back to past SAAB commercials the voice sounds somewhat similar to me- still a little homogenized though

There is a reason thousands of Saab drivers and fans fought GM and followed people like Steven Wade in the fight to save the company.
