The Don Juan Reminiscences at 16??? Simply out of this world...
With those chromatic thirds, impossible leaps and all... Anybody, I mean ANYBODY who's not seeing this as a truly outstanding feat doesn't know anything about piano or music. Period.
there is stg a little bit annoying about her play. imho it's always overplayed. you know like rits. then accelerando. P then FF... even if the piece doesn't ask it. i don't know if ive made myself clear enough ^^ i'm french and it's hard to make critics in english -_-
i think the reasonb why she did not get the first place is that she plays too mechanical, there were no emotions involved on her playing and she looks a little bit dour........... don't you think
Why would you criticise this performance - this is Liszt's Réminiscences de Don Juan... She's plays it exactly how it should be played. This ain't Beethoven mate!
good, but no yuja wang...

There is something very of simplicity and perfection that reminds me of josef hofmann about her.

I won't say that. Her ranking was #1 at the end of the second run of the competition. Her performance in the second run was simply flawless.
But, she fell far behind in the third run (final), that was why she didn't get the ranking at the end.
Her "Musica Nara fro Piano" in the second run bought its composer, Ms. Minako Tokuyama, into tears.

BTW, who wants to put the "emotion" in the "Réminiscences de Don Juan"?!
You want the "energy" and "precision" in this piece, kiddo!

This is a superstar! No doubt about it. This performance rivals Lang Lang's in technical brilliance and shows more poise.
