Even though I always prefer original versions, I was blown away by this beautiful performance. I´m reading here that it´s not totally loyal to the original score but I´ve enjoyed this transcription it very much.
A highly thoughtful performance, if a bit vigorous in places - vastly preferable, in any case, to the metronomic renderings on jangling harpsichords so loved by the purists. Listen also to the Fischers (Edwin and Annie), available here on YouTube, for surprisingly expressive readings - and they don't come with much more impeccable credentials than that!
first i heared this i found her playing with all that bravura or one may call it pomposity was quite disturbing to me. this might also have been due to this one being a transcription with, in my opinion, unnecessary anachronistic additional notes. so to say it in a word, i prefer the original version. But when you stick to the version she is playing, she was amazing. Especially in variations 12-15 (especially 15) it was her speaking through the notes, without loosing grip to the text. Excellent!
Did anyone know that this is NOT Haendel? This here is Haendel - D'Albert. Hence the changes in the text (missing notes etc.) As for Dchrisanthakopoulos...
Where is your video? Is there any? Are you serious?!
This is the PIANO VERSION idiot! If you know so much about ornaments and else then how is it that you do not know that this is baroque music through romantic eyes.. two of the most "free" styles that exist?
appunto è musica Barocca non romantica OSCENA !!!!!! vergognosamente oscena che tornasse alla letteratura pianistica e lasciasse questa musica a i Cembalisti per favore è da vomitare .......
As I'm curently learning this I have to say I totally disagree with this interpetetion!
I'm curently working on alterations, ornaments, quasi-improvised passages: all that areis allowed for a piece like this one... but.... I think her way rather obsures the essence and character of the music than enhances it.... Too much pomposity, too much bravura... too many missing notes (written down by Haendel) and too many of her own... :-(
I just heared Perahia's version! I now understood what she was trying to do... very good/powerfull playing, she is very talented, I just had to say that!
Mr. Genius, your are LEARNING it, great. I find that it is always those who do NOT know who make the most noise. When you got to her status, comment again. Meanwhile, we ( I ) strongly dislike your disrespectful comment. Show us a video reply to this, Don't just use words.
Empty vessels make the most noise. I hate you kind, who has such obnoxious ego and attitude.

It so resembles Goldberg variations, to my ears. Is there a connection?
contekkst 1 year ago
@contekkst Yes. The main aria of the Goldberg variations is based on this Handelian melody :)

the title should be: Variations after Haendels chaconne jajaja
I loved this version, but it is not the original writted by Haendel,
seems like a Busoni transcription or something more XIX century, not XVII jeje
if you want to listen a better version i recommend you all Annie Fischer Handel Chaconne.
