I don't think he was comparing the two - I think what he meant to say was Quo aren't fussed about being cool and trying to be 'in vogue'.

Quo did become more 'pop' than 'rock' in the 80s and this did alienate a lot of the fans who associate Quo with the hard rock songs of the 70s like 'Big Fat Mama' and 'Roll Over Lay Down' etc.

In fairness, it's a good point but put across badly - should have thought more before typing. Agree that Lady Gaga and Lilly Allen are vile and nondescript tho!!

1942JA I totally 100% agree with you on this one! Quo did kinda lose the plot for a while, but since Heavy Traffic they sound awesome! It all started with 'under the influence', but Heavy Traffic was the one that set the tone for what was to follow. HEAVY TRAFFIC COMING INTO THIS TOWN! Awesome!

In my opinion, they went down hill in the 90s, but what a comeback! Heavy Traffic is their second best album yet, The Party album sounds pretty good especcially with this excellent single that got to number 11 in the charts, and one of the finest albums I have ever heard and the best quo album is In Search Of The Fourth chord, they are starting to fire on all silinders again! ROCK ON QUO!

I think Quo tried to go more 'pop' for a while and whilst the records sold the 'traditional' fans weren't happy - Quo are best at doing what comes naturally and rocking out loud!

Yea, I think that Quo has several reasons for changing their style, the main one being that they probably wanted to try something diffrent to the hard rock/rock n roll styles, unforunatelly, quite a few were cheesy/poor mistakes

well, not really they went down hill in the 90s, tne Rock Til You Drop album is pretty good, the worst album by far of Status Quo was in 1989, the Perfect Remedy, and incluiding the Thirsty Work in 1994, they´re almost the two worst Quo´s albums, but they were the best Rock N Roll Band in all over the world, and they´re still the best one. ROCK ON QUO!

Those albums totally sucked, but I guess that Quo were under pressure to remain 'cool' as their album sales had started to dwindle by the mid 80s.

Now, Quo probably realise they'll not be one of the 'cool' acts like Lady Gaga etc. and are just happy to go back to their roots - making good songs and delivering quality albums.
