It's not Sunnah as far as I am concerned. It is hocus-pocus. A placebo effect.  If it works for you, then that's great, but there is no proof in the medical or scientific literature. In fact, it can cause septicemia (blood poisoning) and tetanus.

Just go to the doctor when you get sick. Avoid the quacks and that "alternative" medicine. None of it is placebo-controlled.
