Because it's incredibly difficult to sing challenging vocal lines while playing bass - moreso than guitar because one is a lead instrument while one is a rhythm section, two different mindsets at the same time. Considering how complex the vocal arrangements became on later albums it's pretty clear why he stopped playing bass.

You basically paraphrased exactly what I said. Being "limited" does not amount to sucking, he is a competant bass player however it was the best move for the band both in terms of being able to have more complex basslines and vocal arrangements to allow him to focus solely on vocals and get a dedicated bassist. Again - not saying he's great, but he certainly wasn't bad like some typically retarded youtube commenters claim.

Wait, what? Ummmm... yes, there are solos on Nightfall and ANATO. I don't know what albums you're listening to, but just about every song on EVERY BG album has at least one guitar solo, Nightfall and ANATO included.
