I wish that the older people on that island had stopped the shooter. They certainly could have. He was shooting for 90 minutes and it was 600 vs. 1. I feel sorry for the victims. One even said he could hear the shooters footsteps! Just strangle the asshole and save your friends! That's easier said than done, but my point still stands. I really don't want to seem insensitive, but that certainly would have been the most logical course of action, rather than try to swim away.

I wish that the older people on that island had stopped the shooter. They certainly could have. He was shooting for 90 minutes and it was 600 vs. 1. I feel sorry for the victims. One even said he could hear the shooters footsteps! Just strangle the asshole and save your friends! That's easier said than done, but my point still stands. I really don't want to seem insensitive, but that certainly would have been the most logical course of action, rather than try to swim away.

For a country that never experienced such an attack it's understandable that you run away from a man who behaves exactly the opposite than what a policeman should do. If you watch other interviews it appears that he used grenades at first and that he was laughing while shooting and he was on steroids and other drugs so he seemed very scary to approach.
