  • Would be nice for the backyard....sadly i'll never ever get one here in Austria :(

  • This looks cool, sounds like the bolt is louder than the actual gunfire!

  • Do they still make the Mark II's? I only saw the Mark IIIs on the website. But then again, i didn't see the suppressed model all on the website so...? Do they make these off the Mark II or Mark III platform these days?

  • issheepmanimmortal well there are 3 MK's ive learned as much as i can from this gun for it is my favorite i dont think you could get a II some day soon they stopped making it in 2004 i think or 2006 but they still make the MKIII any mark will make me happy

  • @Frankdude72 i just like to say i love the ruger marks, any one of them will do for me i dont care if theyre silenced i dont care if i get 1,2, or 3 i think that model is so freaking beutiful i wanted to a pellet gun version only i could find it at one website its a black mark 3 and what mark would make me the happiest is the ruger mk2 or 3 stainless steal with a nice clean brown grip i would saw of my foot for that :) good vid!

  • Hehehe... and you can use it inside casinos...

  • with this gun i think you can shoot all youre classmates and they woudnt even notice it

  • I don't want to sound like one of those typical Call of Duty tossers, but this sounds exactly like the .22 in New Vegas (which I assume is meant to replicate the Ruger). Credit to the game designers I suppose.

  • are there any CANADIANS who know about the laws on suppressed firearms for our country? are they straight up illegal or can i keep my dream alive of actually owning a Ruger Mk II one day???

  • thats a nice gun you have there ..... ssssssssssss

  • arnt those like 1000 bucks lol

  • How much would this cost?

Did you use sub sonic rounds?

  • @The818211187 Differnt brands cost varying amounts.

    Budget at least $1K.

No subsonics. The barrel is ported to bleed velocity off standard and hi-vel rounds.

  • @Frankdude72

    Thanks.

    One last question.

Did you have to get a stamp for it?

  • @The818211187 Oh yes, all suppressors transferred between non-FFL/SOTs incur a $200 tax stamp.

  • Wow that was... alarmingly quiet! Remind me not to get on your bad side lol

  • I plan on buying one of these, and in my head was picturing the sound. So I watched this video and it's pretty dead-on compared to how I thought it was going to sound. Amazing, can't wait to get one.

  • woooooooooooo sick i wanna get that for mine

  • hey does anybody know if this gun can fire TRANQUILIZER ROUNDS. (Anesthesia). like in Metal Gear Solid 4? thanks!.

  • @shiond123 Short answer. HELL NO.

Though they'll be pretty tranquil after a couple slugs in the head.

  • @shiond123 no, but it does have a heartbeat sensor.

  • @shiond123 Lol!

  • @shiond123 I'm pretty sure those don't exist.

  • i fart louder than that

  • Do you know why the Russians decided to use ported barrels for the VSS and AS Val rifles? (9X39)

Is it because they didn't have subsonic powder charges?

  • Hey, Im also a proud owner of a silenced mark 2. My question is: It isnt reloading properly because the subsonic ammo is just a little bit too weak... what can I do? replace the recoil spring? thats quite a pain in the ass to do (my ruger has a factory barrel)... or are there any tips anyone could give me?

    its quite an annoying problem.

    great vid btw.

  • @490Dodesheide This one doesn't cycle subsonics reliably either, as it's excessively ported.

    It depends on your model.

If it slows the the Hi-Vels and Hyper-Vels to subsonic like mine, then you should just stick with those.

  • solid snake...

  • Why did HK make the MP5SD with a ported barrel?

    And not just a can?

  • @762full The MP5SD was designed during the 1970s, when almost zero 9X19mm ammo produced was subsonic.

The ported barrel was to suck enough propellant away from common 9X19mm loads to let them exit the barrel at subsonic velocities.

  • @Frankdude72 Why doesn't HK change the MP5SD's that it produces today to have no ports in the barrels? Since sub ammo is available?

Also whenever I go to store to get .22 subsonic the guy only has pure lead bullets. Is it hard to find .22 sub ammo that isn't pure lead? Because I can't find any.

  • @762full They don't need to. HK still makes the MP5, and enough aftermarket cans are available for one to attach to the end of their's.

.22 rimfire ammo is a different story from most cartridge.

Jacketed .22 ammo is nigh impossible to find.

Just shoot the lead .22 ammo.

  • what is the price range on these types of .22

  • Enjoy the silence, folks!

  • NEW VEGAS!!!!!

  • @SDFB001 it does remind me of the one from new vegas thats for true

  • Me thinks this would make a great zombie weapon. 1-2 22's in the head and off to the next zombie without drawing any attention. Mr. Frank, would you agree?

  • Since subsonic ammo has to be pure lead to be heavy enough to be effective, what is the best way to minimize exposure to lead?

I always shoot primers that are free of lead, barium, antimony, and strontium.

But since subsonic ammo must be lead, would it be effective to spray on teflon to the bullets to prevent barrel fouling and inhalation?

  • @762full Whoever told you subsonic ammo has to be pure lead is full of crap.

But even people who shoot all lead bullets (e.g. cowboy action shooters) was their hands and shoot outdoors as the biggest precautions.

  • @Frankdude72 But ammo for the suppressor needs to have as much weight as possible to be effective (compensate for the subsonic limitation), so therefore pure lead rounds are the best?

I don't don't know any other metal that has equal mass

  • @762full I don't know who tells you these things, but they make a lot of untrue assumptions.

As long as the round has a muzzle velocity under 1000 fps (so no transonic bullet noise), and has adequate penetration, you're fine.

Really, don't overthink these things. Really.

Pistol bullets aren't all that different in how they damage flesh between calibers.

If you spend half the time training as you do fretting over these little details you'll be ahead of the game.

  • Are ported integral suppressors quieter than cans in some ways because the bleeding of gasses in the ported version is gradual, whereas in the can suppressor all the gas expands at once as soon as it leaves the tip of the barrel?

Does spreading out the dispersion of the gas make it quieter since it doesnt happen all at once?

  • @762full The porting is there simply to bleed away gasses propelling a typically supersonic round to get the bullet subsonic, and thus have no supersonic crack.

    That's it.

Again, for deep technical detail, hit up the silencertalk forums.

  • Shooting 60 gr. rounds wont be possible with Amphibian?

  • @762full I've shot the 62 gr. Aguila SSS rounds in that gun.

    Was quite unreliable.

Those rounds are so long they need dedicated barrel rifling anyway.

  • @Frankdude72 How does rifling change for longer rounds?

I heard some people cast 158 grain .38 rounds for their 9x19 glocks and size them down to the right diameter .356 or so, and they shoot fine.

Must actually have different rifling for these "long" rounds?

  • @762full .38 Special is actually 9X29mmR

The .38 is the diameter of the rifling grooves. 9mm (.355-.357) is the lands.

Longer cross section on a bullet mean you must have a faster twist of rifling to stabilize them.

The Aguila SSS are verrrrry long compared to normal .22 l. r. bullets.

  • @Frankdude72 In the case of using re-sized .38 in a 9mm pistol, would it not actually be more effective because the bullet would be slightly under-stabilized, thus resulting in bullet tumbling on impact?

I'm thinking of the situation they had when they first made the M16, before using 1:7 twist they were using 1:9, and originally it was planned with 1:12. The result that was originally intended was that the 5.56 was just barely stabilized so it would tumble as soon as it impacted the target.

  • A better chronology:

Original M16s used 1:14 then 1:12, for 55 grain bullets in use at the time.

M16A2 and later models used 1:7 to stabilize the long ogive of the M856 tracer bullets.

Recently some military rifles have 1:8 barrels to stabilize the 75+gr. bullets.

Steyr AUG and many commercial rifles use 1:9.

Tumbling is incorrect. Yawing is accurate. JSPs and JHPs are better.

    Don't over think this.

Modern pistol ammo is as effective as ever. Trying to tweak it is not as good as training more.

  • i LOVE that sound

  • How loud are these indoors if you are using subsonic ammo for it? Hypothetically speaking, would your next door neighbor hear it if your shot it inside your apartment?

  • @jpgbrookes Shooting this indoors is fine, and no they wouldn't hear.

But subsonic doesn't cycle in this model.

Best to use Hi-Vel or Hyper-Vel as the barrel ports will suck down their velocity to subsonic anyways.

  • @Frankdude72 This is because of the integral, as opposed to can suppression right?

Typically you have to use subsonic with the can, but with an integral suppressor, like the Amphibian or MP5SD you *must* use full power ammo or otherwise the integral suppressor make too slow to be affective.

Am I correct in thinking that you therefore can;t use heavy ammo in a integral sp. weapon because it would probably be too slow?

Subsonic is the price for being silent, but light mass would be too weak

  • @762full It's not that it's integral, it's that the barrels on the Amphibian and MP5SD are ported.

The barrel ports suck away gas from full power supersonic loads to make them subsonic.

They'll suck away gas on a subsonic load to make it pretty slow.

The Amphibian II isn't reliable with subsonic ammo anyway (stoppages).

BUT you can have a integral can w/o barrel porting that won't have these issues.

  • @Frankdude72 Oh yeah I thought integral referred to having a ported barrel also.

Since supersonic bullets are generally lighter than subsonic ones (i.e. 115 gr 9mm to 147 gr 9mm) would that mean integral suppressors can't use heavy ammo because they would slow them down too much?

It would seem that using a can would be necessary if you want to use effective rounds, because the rounds must be heavy to be effective if they have subsonic velocity.

  • @762full It really just depends.

I've seen articles that show some 147gr. hollowpoints expanding reliably out of a MP5SD.

But generally you will be handicapped.

Honestly, it's 2010. So for common centerfire cartridges you shouldn't need barrel porting.

  • @Frankdude72 Barrel Porting is actually considered "obsolete"?

  • @762full My opinion only, but for common centerfire cartridges, yes.

  • @Frankdude72 And what about rimfire?

Is there any integral pistol that beats the 5 in. P22? (shorter range of course)

  • @762full Most common .22 l.r. rounds are supersonic. It's a different ball game.

Really, for this in depth a comparison level, you'll get a lot out of the Silencertalk forums.

They'll offer a lot of technical expertise and experience I don't have.

  • Where can you get one of these? Does ruger just sell them special order? I love the long barrel unibody design, suppressed or unsuppressed.

  • @fpscrash1992 Look at the video's title more closely.

Ruger doesn;t make the entire package. A suppressor company will take the Ruger pistol then convert it, and you buy through them.

Best to Google suppressed Ruger pistol, then when you're ready to buy, Google Class 3 dealer in your state. They'll guide you through the purchasing process.

  • Do you have to have a suppressor license if you buy the gun integrally suppressed? Thanks

  • @capecodpirate7 In the US there's no such thing as a "suppressor license".

However you do have to fill out a form (typically it's a ATF Form 4), pay a $200 tax, and get separate ATFE approval for each suppressor or other Class 3 firearm you buy.

Best to do a web search for a Class 3 dealer (aka FFL/SOT) in your state and they will guide you through the process.

  • So that is a barrell with the silencer built in? Do you just replace the factory barrel after the NFA forms are done? If yes, where do you get them?

  • @JacobMcandles There are screw on models form the different vendors.

However, the integrally suppressed models come like that from the factory as a complete upper unit.

There's several manufacturers. Google is your friend and the silencertests forums should be your bosom buddy.

To make it yourself you'd have to be a 07 FFL/SOT (Title II manufacturer which is more paperwork than I wish to endure.

  • Beautiful! thats how a suppressor should sound!:)

  • I want one of these so very badly.

I could shoot it everyday in the back yard and not a soul would notice.

  • youre the fucking man.

  • really nice

  • did you use subsonic 22 rounds?

  • @cumbee2006 Nope.

Internal barrel porting will slow even hyper-vel rounds to subsonic levels.

  • so im gonna just throw this out there a noobie comment maybe but how would one go about finding these? ino the ruger mark 2's are out there but how to get that model?

  • @Firefungear There's lots of manufacturers of these, just depends on your state as to their legality.

If you Google up some key words like integral suppressed ruger or the like, many options will be presented to you.

  • Arent you supposed to put some water inside?

  • @d35p0 No, it's not a "wet" can.

Only a certain few silencers need a coolant medium.

  • it sounds like the slide mechanism is louder than the report!

  • man that is such an awesome pistol! I think I need to get one now lol

  • dang, it just sounds like a bb gun!

  • Why does he have ear protection for a supressed 22?

  • People really need to scroll down the comments.

Enough people are asking again I put this reply in the video info.

I wear ear protection as a habit.

Rather than take them off simply because of one particular gun, I wear them the entire time.

Thus, earpro isn't forgotten for other guns.

(And according to Al Paulson's data, suppressed .22 pistols make noise in the 120-130dB range.)

Now comments on this video will have to be approved as I ain't gonna bother to answer earpro questions again.

  • @agentfazexx

Because he's been firing unsuppressed weapons previously...

  • @agentfazexx don't know if you've ever fired a silenced firearm, but the crack of the shot can be painful to the ears, and he is also on a range there may be other shooters out there

  • what a nice little pistol, wish we could get em like that in canada

  • Beautiful gun. Like shooting air!

  • good thing about small 22 rounds they can do more damage than a 9mm or a 45 sometimes. they break through in skull shots but dont have enough power to exit the skull so they just bounce around and tear shit up. who said bigger is better

  • uch i love this gun

  • what are you taking pictures with that gun? its a compliment in that its pretty much silenced.

  • wtf?

  • Man....very nice .22, and great shooting in the demo!

  • purely silent i would never hear that if someone shot it

  • So Soft

    So Sweet

    So Dangerous

  • Frank, what ammo are you using there?

I just got my Gemtech Oasis upper

    for my MkIII 22/45.

    :)

  • I don't even remember. All kinds of loads.

The AWC Amphibian is massively overported.

Even hyper-vel stuff gets bled down to subsonic.

Your Gemtech has a saner amount of porting, I think.

Guns are quirky enough that you should test a bunch of each and see what works best.

it's not like .22 l.r. is expensive, after all.

  • Thanks, I'm on a mission!

    :)

  • whys he wearing hearing protection , yo dont need hearing with unsuppressed .22s

  • sounds like a bb gun lol

  • Hey

How much does that AWC cost and do they sell them at sporting good stores?

  • Sporting goods stores?

    Not likely.

Never heard of a Dick's or Academy that was a Class 3 dealer as well.

If you live in a state (assuming you're in the USA) where silencers are legal, you need to find a specialty dealer that is authorized to sell Class 3 weapons.

Google Class 3 dealer and your state and you should be able to find someone to help you.

    Expect to pay a grand+.

  • Since you said you live in Seattle I have good news / bad news.

Good news is silencers are legal in Washington State.

Bad news is they can't be installed or used within Washington State.

    Perplexing, I know.

    Wasn't my idea.

Also, King County Sheriff Dept. is known for not signing the CLEO portion of a Form 4, meaning you'll have to make a living trust or corporation you own the owner.

A Washington State Class 3 dealer will be able to guide you through the details better than I.

  • still better than new york

you wouldnt believe the crap you need to go through just to get a ruger 10/22

  • lol you dont even need the ear muffs

  • @ClayKnight75 on the safe side its allways good to have! nothing wrong with it. but outside with a supressed rifle / pistol there actualyl isnt a big need. specially bolt actions. a dropping penny has more sound :)

  • @ClayKnight75 not allways. if ur using subammo. u can easily be without hearing protection. since the decibels are quite low

  • Thank God there aren't any rogue tin cans out there that need to be taken out.

  • You gotta have a great respect for the cardinal rules of gun safety, don't you.

  • Wow, ok, enough of the uninformed are asking the same question. So, Ill try to educate.

Those who get emotional and jump on comments and try to engage me in a dialogue will be disappointed, as I'm posting then moving on.

I wear ear protection as a habit.

Rather than take them off simply because of one particular gun, I wear them the entire time.

Thus, earpro isn't forgotten for other guns.

(And according to Al Paulson's data, suppressed .22 pistols make noise in the 120-130dB range.)

  • hey i read about sum stuff like that anything i think above 85db is too loud well i was just thought u were shooting other guns thats what i said in ma comment but i would wear ear plugs too my mind went blank the time i posted ma comment so i just typed crap but any way i know guns can still be loud even wit supressors i know that just forgot cuz im more of a sniper person so i stumbled on this vid and wached and commented like most ppl but i would like to have a MKll they awesome i love m1911

  • ear protection for a suppressed .22? ...

  • My friend bought one of these (unscilenced though) for $450 at a pawn shop.

  • why wear earplugs with a suprressed Ruger MKll my friend owns a .22 peacemaker single action army revolver we shoot with out earplugs and its fun but i bet he was probably shooting sumtin elses just wondering

  • Just because somthing has a silencer? doesnt mean it wont damage your ears. Gotta keep in mind. Silencers dont SILENCE a gun. they limit the sound and the muzzleflash but their is still low freaquency sounds that come out of the gun. and saying you dont need ear protection just goes to show your Ignorance when it comes to firearms.

  • well sorry im not that much into pistols im more of a sniper rifle person but yyour right i forget shit sumtimes sorry well atleast i learned sumtin

  • i know nothing about guns, but is that gonna kill someone? how far do you have to be from target info please....

  • 22 is popular for assasinations because the bullet has only enough penetration power to punch through the skull, but not enough power to exit. thus the bullet will ricochete inside of your skull tearing up your brain

  • the .22 has never failed me with all my hit contracts

  • Yeah, as long as you're within twenty meters, you're sure to hit them.

  • In the 80's a hitmans gun of choice was the 22 caliber revolver because the 22 caliber bullet has enough kenetic energy to enter your skull but not to exit. so it turns your head into a pinball machine.

  • i so want one of those... but it's a lot of money for a .22 pistol.... and all the nfa hassle... very cool though

  • Im impressed with the silencer. My airsoft gun makes more noise than that.

  • u missed the first 4 targets so u already heard it without the ping

  • hey man could you tell me how much that pistol ?

    please thanks !

    i want buy that pistol

  • it's like 1300 without the tax for the silence and whatnot

  • If you want the normal, unsuppressed one, my Dad and I found one in a pawn shop the other day for $300 brand new.

  • what that about .22's? if thats what your talking about then all i can say is lol. i didn't mean to make myself look like a hitman. sorry. now that i look at my own comment i can see what you mean. but i don't kill people for a living. i have no criminal record. i'm perfectly safe with firearms. ask anyone at my range or in my family. or anyone i know! ha.

  • why are you wearing ear plugs

  • this is my favorite .22LR calibre pistol. its awesome. and perfect for silent assassinations if your not in to sniping your target...

  • cool story, bro.

  • excuse me?

  • TCUB!

  • now thats a cool gun!

  • Do a search for AWC Amphibian

The manufacturer's website will come up

    awcsystech

  • please send me some info on that barrel supresr combo...

    thanks...

  • do a search for AWC Amphibian and the manufacturer's website will come up

    awcsystech

  • how would this compare to a threaded upper with a awc suppressor in your opinion?

  • I don't have a personal frame of reference to compare directly.

Likely the most significant difference would be the other gun's lack of ported barrel to slow down normal and high velocity rounds to subsonic speeds.

Thus, with supersonic rounds in the threaded barrel, you'll be left with the supersonic crack.

  • Assassin!!

  • This pistol sounds like a toy for crying out loud.

  • where can I get one of those suppressors?

  • I think those things are built into the pistol.

  • man i wish i could have one of those in california. that gun is awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • this may sound stupid! but i really know nothing about guns. is that thin really gonna kill somebody? how many round do you have to but in a person so they will die? looks fucking cool tho

  • Why are you worrying about if it will kill someone?

This is for targets and what not.

If you want something for home security, get a 9mm or a .357 or something like that.

If you really wanted this for home security though, just put some hollow points.

  • why are you wearing ear protection for a suppressed .22?

  • I shot several unsuppressed guns shortly after this film was taken.

  • subsonics? i hear no supersonic crack. nice mod, im going to get a markIII soon

  • Nope, the rounds are high velocity. There are ports in the barrel to bleed the velocity to subsonic.

I just tested it recently with CCI hyper velocity (1600+ fps) and it still bleeds those to subsonic velocity.

  • DANM THATS QUIET

  • Haha yeah you don't want shitty innards.

  • He looks like that Dax Shepard guy

  • 0:2 seconds: WHAT?

  • Ok question? Whay are you wearing your ear muffs?

  • Maybe he was shooting other (unsuppressed) guns?

  • and how long does the surpressor last? indefinitely or no?

  • Indefinately you just have to clean it to make sure it doesn't get shitty in its innards.

  • thanks Killfrenzie

  • does the ruger .22 need to have a threaded barrel to attach a surpressor or is the surpressed version a completely different gun altogether?

  • This is the ruger with an internal silencer. It's called an AWC Amphibian

  • how much did that cost

  • Suppressed Ruger Mark IIs typically run about a grand or so when all fees are paid. Best to query your Class III Dealer and see what they have in stock or what their transfer fees are.

  • thanks man those things are awsome, i should check out the gun shop tommorrow
