Regarding stocked fish.. Aren't they are really a recreational fish that are meant to be caught and kept when small Small is often what you get. Would most of those really overwinter and get bigger?
@axlent123 Not many since they were not born into the stream and are a different strain with a different gene pool. If stocked as fry or fingerlings and left to grow in the stream without pressure they would probably spawn and evolve but trout stocked as yearlings have little chance to overwinter and grow larger. They just don't have some characteristics of wild trout, especially when out of their natural range. the largest stocked trout that I have caught measured 13" so they rarely get big.
Love how people are saying things too small, should have thrown it back...some states like NJ stock the waters for recreation, theyre pretty much all that size...they are meant to be caught and kept at this size because all these trout die once the water gets too warm in the summer.
That's handy. Quick and simple. One question though. Why are you cleaning your bait? j/k. Thanks for posting. I knew I had seen fish cleaned this way before but couldn't remember how.
I also have heard that fish doesn't fell pain like we do. But there are still not a reason why you shouldn't hav ekilled the fish before gutting it, it has to do with respect for the animal you have cought.
I took my 2 sons fishing for the first time yesterday and one of them caught a brown trout weighing 2lb 4 oz , he cant wait to go fishing again he's hooked . we watched your video and gutted it this morning it was very helpful,
For all the people who are saying that he should have killed that fish, it is obviously already dead. It would have flopped like crazy when he way gutting it, if it were alive.
you should have let him go and grow to a decent eating size. he was a little to small. where was this at? i go to montauk state park and have been for years. its in missouri
believe it or not but fish dont feel pain. Studies have been shown that fish dont contain the same part in cerebral part of the brain that acknowledge pain receptors like we do.
Scientist are still debating on whether or not fish feel can feel pain, although you are right they do not have the cerebral part of the brain like we do that causes emotional distress "which is a important part of pain" but, remember back in the 18th century scientist claimed that dogs couldn't feel pain and would operate on them alive (vivisection). I for one think further studies are needed.
its a fucking fish you retards. they are here for us to eat and this guy is showing you how to do it!! if i ever see any of you peta motherfuckers starving in the woods in the middle of winter, I'll tell you to plant a fucking garden while I eat my deer meat and fish.
Really, how much longer would it have taken to bash it on the head before removing its innards?
For the moronic spacker below that said 'fish don't feel pain' - this is an old myth, and has been thoroughly debunked. Of course they do. Any suggestion to the contrary makes you a retard.
Other than that - quite instructional, and impressively quick...
I went camping this past weekend and we have a preserve/stream cold water here in the states where im at..the trout hit from small to big..but im not sure what to use for bait we used nightcrawler n a small hook..the water aint even that deep in most spots it only gets to like 2-3 foot deep in some areas..but i dont no a technique to use to catch rainbow or what ever kind of trout..also i wanted to know what kind of trout has a black strip going from behind the gills to the fin???
hey steelyfisherman why don't you shut the fuck up it is still a small trout and needs to be released i don't care if there better small the trout populations down any way because of dumbasses like you
what do you get one small little piece of meat from a fish that small, so quit telling people to shut up. this is pathetic and lame. go catch a real trout. 100% of fish that small need to be released.
Pathetic because: 1. the fish was too small 2. Kill it before you gut it, moron.
As far as the actual cleaning is concerned - good job. I have never cut the lower jaw like that when I've been cleaning my fish but that looks like a much more efficient way of doing it and next time I catch a (decent sized) trout I'm gonna try this technique (after I've killed it).
I'm tired of reading people saying, It's not dead yet, Who gives a F! It's going to be dead anyways. WAAA! Damn hippies learn your place in the world and STFU!
that's how I do it. good job. I suppose other poeple wait till rigor sets in, let it sit on your stringer all day...yech! Or better yet, set a severly injured fish free. I've seen that done on TV.
Why not clean it fresh and eat it people?
It "ain't dead yet"? So what, whack it on the head with the knife. Don't be a dumbass pussy.
dude first of all it aint dead yet and second that aint even how u clean a freakin trout u don't need to cut the lower jaw off DUH, and third it was not even that big u should have LET IT GO DUH AGAIN. obviously u aint a good fisherman but me ive done it my whole life so don't even think or write anything bad to say. now DEAL WITH THAT >:[
wow actually u do have to cut the lower jaw he didnt cut OFF the lower jaw u cut beneath it so u can take the guts out also u cant say he did it wrong because there are many different ways to clean fish... and ur a dumbass
Hey biter! bite on this hook and we'll gut you while your still alive... and feed you to the trout in our stream. Aha haha, some of the comments make me laugh.
