The trick is to apply the Shatter super quick, in one coat. DO NOT go over the nail twice, even if you missed a spot. It dries SUPER quick. It took me two tries to figure it out.

I shake mine up SO much, to the point where i'm shaking it up for every finger, cause it get's kinda clumpy. The clumpiness means that I have to brush over the nail again and again to get rid of the clumps. The problem is, you aren't supposed to brush the nail a thousand times cause you get too much polish on and it doesn't crack as well, i've learned. Still clumpy though. . .

@swiregurl I got a crackle nail polish from some Delia brand. The very first time that I used it, I put a really thin coat on a nail and I got the straight lines, and for the other ones I used different strokes, which looked kind of okay. The second time that I used it, I guess it got a little air because I used it, and this time I used normal coats like I did last time, only straight coats thought, and they came out in chunks, which looked awesome. And the brand I bought is way cheaper!

buy china glaze's crackle collection instead, i haven't tried it, but i feel ripped off because shatter only comes in black, while china glaze has a multitude of colors on top of the fact that it's a lot less expensive.

Heres a tip:

After you put your base coat on let it dry a little when it is SLIGHTLY damp put the polish on, it kinda looks like tiger/zebra stripes, it' awesome! Mine are right now, white with the O.P.I shatter/crackle nail polish! I love this!!!!

Just got this - It is awesome! Actually the whole Katy Perry collection from OPI is cool, but I agree it shows up better with a brighter colors. You can test the color combos on OPI's website to see what it would like like with the black shatter. So cool.

This is exactly the same as Barry M's Instant Nail Effects if you struggle with the price of the OPI version, there are only two differences between the polishes themselves; OPI's is a bit more durable, meaning that the little segments won't peel off so easily and Barry M's is quite easy to make a mess of if you apply it as thickly as you do the OPI one.
