i just got done watching this movie. It was a very good movie. Christopher Johnson McCandless will be missed. He was a very good man. If he were to still be alive he would've changed the world completely. This movie makes me cry alot. the last time i saw this movie was a year ago and i ran upstairs crying. An amazing personal journey will deeply touch your heart. Watching this movie for like the 3rd time finally got through to me.

He left everybody that ever cared about him. Sometimes he didn't even say bye or tell them how he felt. He just left. All of the characters wanted supertramp to fill a void, brother, employee, mentee, boyfriend, son, and somebody to carry on a name. spoiler alert!!! He went to alaska to die. He could've gotten out, for christs sake he kayaked down the colorado.

He absolutely meant to hurt them or he would have called them in the 2 years he was away. When Chris was dying, he wrote one last entry in his journal. "The only way to truly multiply happiness is to devide it." So no, he didn't have that revelation that a fake materialized lifestyle wasn't so bad, but he did have a revelelation that without making people other them himself happy, he couldn't truly be happy. So he learned something from the whole ordeal. He died a great man.

As for Alex Supertramp, from what I remember from the book it's not that certain that he made a mistake gathering edible plants. Actually, it's rather unlikely. The movie shows one theory.

This film put everything into perspective, the fact that every person's life is planned out. You grow up, go to school, get a job then have that very short part of your life where you can do what ever you choose, retirement. Then honestly, when you realy think about it. There's no life after death, when you die, you die. No matter how good life is, life sucks... :)

There is nothing beautiful about starvation. That poison plant and injury angle has been contested by a pathologist and plant experts who checked the entire  area around Chris. This B.S. was left in to make him look more a victim than a fool.You could eat rabbits every day and still starve because the meat is too lean. What this kid needed was the fish in the streams which have plenty of fats and nutrients. He had a fishing pole and net but starved anyway. He never learned to fish i guess.
